Coconuts – The New Miracle Nut
I recently noticed coconut oil and water are creating big buzz; everyone from beauty and health experts and even Dr. Oz are claiming the “miracle nut” is beneficial for just about everything including curing hangovers, normalizing blood pressure, promoting healthy hair and skin and even curbing appetites.
Now, anyone who knows me well is quite aware that I’m all about jumping on bandwagons especially when it’s an all natural product with fantastic benefits, so I thought I’d share some of the benefits of coconut oil and water and how you can incorporate them into your health and beauty regime.
Coconut Oil for Hair:
Coconut oil has some amazing properties it helps moisture your tresses, prevents brakeage, and for the curly hair folks like me, curbs frizz! Using coconut oil can be a bit tricky because if you use too much you will be left with oily hair, so I suggest using a small amount as a pre-shampoo treatment for about 30 minutes then wash it out with shampoo followed by conditioner.
Coconut Oil for Skin:
The shorter days is a clear sign that old man winter is right around the corner, which means many of us will be left with dry chapped skin. Applying coconut oil after a shower can help keep your skin moisturized even on the coldest days – another added benefit, you’ll smell like coconuts all day!
Coconut Water’s Health Benefits:
Coconut water is packed with minerals, vitamins and electrolytes that help replenish hydration levels in the body. In addition, since coconut water is rich in potassium, many health care professionals have said it can help reduce the risk of hypertension and strokes. Drinking coconut water on a daily basis can also boost your immune system, circulation and support weight loss.
If you’re a coconut fan, let us know how you incorporate it in your life!
I love coconut oil! I use it for cooking, baking, and skin care! It’s healthy and delicious and smells great too. Thanks for this info.
Sounds to me like yet another cure-all fantacy; each to their own but do I really have to smell that gunk in public places? Fine, rub it in your hair, your bod, spread it on your toast, but don’t gag us poor innocents with that cloying odour.
I never bought this but received as a free sample once, FANTASTIC – works well as a lip balm also!
I use coconut oil in my handmade homemade soap and lotion products I make and sell. I also use it on my hair once a week and it does make a huge difference. Since using it on my hair, my hair is shinier and softer and healthier looking. I leave it on my hair for 30 minutes to an hour and wash my hair as usual. I also use coconut oil for cooking and baking. With all the PROVEN benefits why wouldn’t we use it!!!! Love the stuff.
Coconuts intimidate me. I don’t know which is the best way to break them without creating a mess in the kitchen and also HOW to break them without creating too much noise.
