I have used this product for a number of years and cannot find one that maintains hold and style as well as this one. It also doesn't dry my hair out and the style can be refreshed by running my wet hands or a wet brush through my hair. The scent is light too.

I don't know much about hair gels or hair products of any kind, really. But this stuff works for me as a moisturizing sort of style aid. I have shortish hair, so I apply it while my hair is damp, comb it roughly how I want, soften and shape it with my fingers as it air dries, and that's it. Easy. If I don't put anything in my hair it dries wispy (and kind of weird) so this stuff helps keep that undesirable behavior at bay and leaves my hair looking and feeling pretty natural.
PS - I don't have any trouble with flaking, as per Claudia's comment.
