The color comes out deeper than youmight expect. Also, make sure you have no dry skin on your lips because it will show.

I have 2 different shades in this product but only use it occasionally, since it goes on pretty bright. I've had both for over 2 years now though, and I haven't had any trouble with it drying out. I agree with other reviewers that say that you can't really guess the colour based on the package. If I want to mute the colour a little, I will dot it on sparsely and then quickly put balm or gloss overtop and smooth it around. I might buy it again if it goes on sale or clearance.

I saw this advertised on TV and couldn't wait to try it. I had it a week and the container is empty.. I used it 3 times at the most and the colour seemed to stay on but not happy with the product. I will not be buying this again.

This will be my 5th time I buy this. I put on lip pencil, the stain followed by lip gloss. It may not last all day, but it lasts far longer than lipstick. However the colors are not as pale as they seem.

I can't imagine why CG named this "Outlast"! This stain is very water soluble! I saw a review on Youtube of someone testing it out (can't remember the account name, I guess just look for 'outlast solubility test' I wish I saw the review before buying 2! They are really drying and they will last as long as you don't lick your lips or drink! Applying a balm over it does make it last longer. 2 stars for the colour and fruity smell.

- I didn't like this product. - It ran all into & stained my teeth & mouth -and- (for that reason) I found this product to be toxic to my health. - What colour did stay on my lips was drying and looked Awful (-caused an "outline-ring-stain" around my lips). - I ended-up just having to use this lip-pen as a Marker at work!!lol

It was very hard to pick the colour. Colours were not accurate - found my colour to be much more red based than plum colour I chose.

An excellent product for the price. I like the smell and taste of this much more than the expensive brands I've tried. It does feel a bit drying after application. And the colours are not accurately represented - they're all actually more intense and red-based.

I do not find this product lasts very long....it is virtually gone by lunchtime - if it lasts that long. I find the shades are much darker on and leave my lips dry. I did like the precise way I could apply it to my lips.

This is the second time I've tried this product, and although it goes on great at first, I don't find it lasts long AT ALL. Not sure why it seems to work for some people, but I wish it worked for me because I hate lipstick and gooey gloss.

I like Rae and others got this on sale.
I cannot apply this like actual lip balm/lipstick, instead, I dot this on my lips and rub them together, as the colour is very intense. Then I put lip balm on top, and the colour lasts, I wouldn't recommend using this without the balm..

I think the product is great. Lasts long, doesn't feel dry on lips.
Be sure the colour you choose is what you want,
as it is what you will get.

I don't know whether I have unusually dry lips but this lip stain seemed to dry them out more than ever. I did use a lip gloss over it but that seemed to defeat the purpose. It didn't last as long as I expected either. I probably won't buy it again, although it was a good price on sale

I'm more of a lip balm/gloss gal, but when these were on sale I couldn't resist the opportunity to try something new. I chose the shade "Flirty Nude" which was quite noticeably darker than my lips, but still liked the colour (I'm aquite pale, cool undertones). Unfortunately my lips are really, really dry and the stain seemed to bring more attention to this fact. I covered the stain with some plain lip balm and that seemed to do the trick. The stain lasted nearly all day.

I find it needs a little gloss or lipstick on top to keep it from looking cheap. It's very bright, yet matte...so choose your shade wisely!

First lip stain product I've tried so I can't say it's better than any other out there. I usually don't wear lipstick but the lipstain is just what I needed - colour and longevity without the heaviness and gooey mess of typical lipsticks. From experience, exfoliating my lips before applying allowed me to avoid blotches.

I'm a complete lipstick junkie, but after trying this I'll never buy another lipstick again. This stuff is about as perfect as lipstick can get. It doesn't have that awful waxy lipstick quality and lasts for ages while looking natural. I love it. It doesn't dry out fast either, I've had my first one for about 5 months now and it's only now drying out. Of course I bought another one within a week of the first just because I never want to be out of these :)

I really like this lipstick. Stays on the best of all the ones I have tried. It does give a matte finish, so I sometimes use a lip gloss just in the center of my lips.

This is now one of the main products in my makeup drawer. Easy to apply, lasts for hours, and I like how I can put my favourite lip gloss on top of the stain. A trick to fuller lips: Go right to the edge of your lips, slightly beyond when you line them with this, fill in the lip and apply lip gloss. Your lips will look luscious and much more full

What a huge disappointment. I thought this was going to be the perfect lasting product. Not only does it go on blotchy but it doesn't last for the "hours" they claim. I can't even give it a one star rating. Don't waste your money.

For those complaining about these drying out....take a cue from the store displays and store this on its side. I've been using it every day for two weeks and it's still fine.

I just bought this product in teasing blush. It was ok i guess, but it turned out too red for my liking. It also made my lips very dry. I don't think i'll be buying this again

I like this better than my expensive Lorac lip stain.
Better colour selection too.
If you find the colour is going on a bit dark, I lick my lips before I put it on and then blot after, that'll make it go on more sheer.

My actual marker didn't last long. 2 coats for stain to stay. Tastes yuck. I wear burts bees lipbalm over top.

I have just bought the lip stain. The color that I bought # 405 has turned brick red. Not a flattering color for me at all. It does not last at all. I am truly disappointed wtih it. I put it on and within 2 hours it is gone. I have tried blotting before it dries and nothing works. I find it is very drying on my lips and it feels like it burns.I have to apply lip gloss to keep my lips moist. I will not by another one. A total waste of money.

Works fine but I bought it in Teasing Blush and it looks kind of weird with my fair skin tone( I have pink undertones). It sort of is light brick red on my lips. Makes my face look reddish. If I buy another one I'll make sure to buy one with a bit of blue undertone in it.

I've been using number 440 for several days now and truly love it's cherry red hue (it's has a slightly blue undertone that works really well with my fair but pink tinged skin). I find that applying on coat and letting it dry before adding another is the best way to achieve long lasting colour. Having gone that route I've had the lip stain remain on my lips for 4-6 without needing to reply.
I've other (more expensive) lipstains in the past and have never been half as impressed as I am with the Outlast lip stain. I plan on using it for as long as Cover Girl produces this product.

This lasts long. Just blot it before it dries. And don't lick your lips. If you think it's not awesome you're crazy/

I was surprised by the comments below saying there were problems with this lip stain. I have two of them and absolutely LOVE them! I have several lip stains by other companies and this one is just as good - if not even better. It lasts all day and is especially great for under glosses that don't have enough colour or come off too quickly. By putting it underneath, you don't have ever have to worry about bare lips when gloss or lipstick wears off! Also very pretty by themselves.

i bought this lip stain#420, was suppose to be a mavue color and it come out crappy reddish, does not match the color it shows you and does not stay on, dont buy it.

I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD FOUND A LIP STAIN THAT I LIKED. WELL, I COULDN'T EVEN SEE ANY COLOR WHEN I PUT IT ON! I THOUGHT IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS OUT OF PRODUCT, BUT IT WASN'T! I'M SORRY I PURCHASED 5 COLOURS, NOT A GOOD CHOICE!

Bought this product on March 8th, and I really like it! I did have to run it along my lips a bit to get it started but I could make the colour a bit darker the more I put on. It gave me a sexy blushed lip that lasted. I could also apply gloss or chapstick overtop if wanted. My new fave for colour- Berry Smooch!

On Feb 28th i purchase this Product Outlast Lipstain # 445. When i first applied the lip color to my lips with the tip of the brush it seemed to me as if it was out of lipstick. and i kept on trying to apply it to no avail. i am very unhappy with this product for the amount of money i paid for this product i should have not gotten these kind of results. NOT GOOD.
