This product was simple enough to use. The applicator stick that it comes with should be just very lightly dipped in water to have the 'bling' stick to it for easy application. The top coat can be used, or you can use your own. I strognly recommend using a top coat of some kind since it helps keep the 'bling' on your nail. I tried it without a top coat first, and it feel off pretty quickly. I find that they stay on for about a week before wanting to fall off. I imagine if you keep re-applying the top coat, then it should stay on fine, but I like changing mine up, so once they fall off, I have a reason to redo my nails. :)
