This product is completely useless.

After only 2 or 3 days in my kitchen compost bin, it has disintegrated and all of my kitchen scraps have eaten through the bag. I find it disturbing that a company with this reputation would sell such a blatently poor product.

This has happened over and over and over (I have tried to give the bags the benefit of the doubt...but over a 6 month period I have been utterly disappointed every time).

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

The small kitchen compostable bags I purchased leak (all of them). I used the no name brand first, and they were excellent.

I thought it was just me who had to deal with the stinky, disgusting mess, because the bags leak and accumulate a pool of rotting liquid at the bottom of the compost bin, pretty much every single time.

At first, I thought the bags got punctured from bones and sharp pieces of food waste, but after a few tries of very gentle handling and with no sharp pieces, I finally clued in: the product itself is faulty.

I suppose I should remind myself to stop associating name brands and higher prices with quality. What a waste of effort, money and time.

To whomever redesigned the perfectly working green Glad compostable bag: you screwed up. Bring back the green bags!
These "new" bags of yours sweat, leak, split, and are hard to open. You took a working product and turned it into expensive junk. No wonder people don't bother with compostables; who wants to deal with a stinky, leaky heap of scraps AND have to wash the bucket, too?
I will be purchasing the "other" compostable brand available on Well.

I found these bags to be useless. They don't even last 3 days before they start breaking down. No name ones last much longer and are alot cheaper.

I will never purchase them again.

I agree with comment's below the new bag's are terrible they leak what happened to the old green bag's they were great. Will have to search for a new product if they don't come back with the old green one's.I give them a 0

I recently purchased small compostable bags I have tried at least 6 of them not one has a sealed bottom they are useless to me. As I bought them when I was out of town I am unable to return them. It is the first time I have bought & it will be my last.

Glad compostable bags. These bags make composting easy. Only issue is opening the bag. I have found placing a piece of tape on either side and pulling. Horay!!! It opens with ease.

Disgusting mess - leaks

Margaret: about a year ago

Not very good at all, the bags "sweat" and also leak, as mentioned by others... Would NOT recommend these bags.

I feel that the product in question (Small Compost Bags) is NOT any where as GOOD as they used to be! This product used to SMELL GREAT for the whole week that it was in it's container and it was also much more DURABLE than the new product! meaning the MOISTURE did not seep through the bag and you also used to get a much bigger BANG for your BUCK than you do NOW! Because now you only get a box of 20 small bags w/ odour gaurd that "quote" "unquote" NEUTRALIZES ODOURS instead of the box of 52 that DOESN"T LEAK and SUPPRESSES the ODOURS even for a couple dollars more it was well worth it to get the OLDER BAGS 10 L Green Bags. Please Bring Back These BAGS. THANK YOU.

I was very disappointed when I could not find the original green, 52 to a box, recyclable kitchen bags; they were perfect. I had no choice but to buy the opaque, 20 to a box compostable bags. They are difficult to open &, worst of all, they leak. I always have a mess to clean up. The bag starts to de-compose within a week. I will not buy them again. I do hope you will bring back the green, 52 bags to a box recyclable bags. Never once had a problem of any kind with them.

I rate these with only 1 star, as this is the ONLY bag that fits the Kitchen recycling These fall apart in the pail, and definitely are NOT leak-proof! I'm all for recycling, but improve your product please. These newer ones are also much more expensive.

I received two packs (4 per pack) at the St. Catharines, Ontario home show in the fall of 2010. Two bags in one pack tore from top to bottom immediately and the entire four in the other pack were stuck together with the glue to hold the flap in place. So, six had to be discarded.

Pat: more than a year ago

I have just spent 1/2 hour trying to get the small sized bag open to place food scraps inside.

Susan: more than a year ago

Why did they switch from the small, green recyclable kitchen bags to the clear bags with "compostable" on them? The green bags worked! The compostable bags are a disgrace. The green ones were the right size, easy to open and did not leak. These compostable bags are VERY difficult to open and they always leak. I will never buy them again. 0/5. I hope Glad changes these bags to ones that respect consumer time, money and patience. Thanks.

This bag is absolute rubbish. Leaks, breaks, tears, smells, and requires the fingers of a gecko to open. On top of it the quantity in a box is less half (20 vs. 52) that of the preceding green bags thus you are paying more than twice the amount by only receiving 20 bags.

Eileen: more than a year ago

Worst product I have bought in a long time. It biodegrades before it even gets to the municipal compost depot. It disintegrates right in the household bin! I will not be using the rest of the bags for my composting needs.

Jake: more than a year ago

I agree with the others. The bottom fell out of the bag when we went to change it (less than a week of waste). When I contacted Glad they said the bags are supposed to be changed every three days although it says this no where on the box. I am going to attempt to return the box (one used) and will not be buying these again.

I cannot get these bags open. I try to cut them i try with my bare hands. Not impressed with this product. Sitting here for about an hour now cannot get the stupid things open. Honestly I give it a zero. What a waste of my time.

Colleen: more than a year ago

I will likely have to throw out the compostable kitchen bags unused, as it is impossible to get them open. I tried wet fingers and rubbing it but there is no way these rather expensive bags will open. This is VERY annoying and I will not buy them again believe me!

Glenn: more than a year ago

This bag is a good size for my under sink catcher, and I haven't notice one leak (though it may have in the outside green bin). However, I do find the bags next to impossible to open - yes I tried moistening my fingers and sometimes that helps but often it doesn't. In fact, I've thrown out a box because i couldn't get the first three open! Very frustrating.

Tony: more than a year ago

Like June, I give them a 1 star for concept. The reality is they leak. I am down to my last bag of the ten that came in the box. Seven of the nine used have leaked out. After the first one leaked I was extremely careful with all the others. It didn't matter as almost all leaked badly.

Hopefully someone will find a better solution.

I hate it. I give the compostable bags one star for effort. I want to do my part for the environment but these won't be used the way they are. The small kitchen bags allow moisture to seep out and, are difficult to tie. Once I get them to the green bin lined with a large compostable bag (which is also difficult to tie)I'm not safe yet. Last week when the bag was lifted from the green bin to put into the truck the bottom fell out and we had compostables everywhere but in the truck. I've tried another brand and they were just as bad. I used precious water to wash down my lane way and wash out my green bin. I guess they're already decomposing when I take one out of the package. I do tell my friends about this product and I tell them not to buy them because they leak.

I have used this bag for about 2 months now and I never had it degrade or have holes in it before it was full. I would go through 1 to 2 bags a week. No problems with the bag at all. Actually wondering if it is really biodegradable! Has no ordour from the bag, even when full of rotting food. Very happy with it.

Mad At Glad: more than a year ago

This bag doesn't work. It degrades almost instantly. By the time you fill the bag, even partially, it'll already have holes in it! Stay away from this product!
