Organic buckwheat groats are not part of the wheat family! Buckwheat is actually a grass that produces a seed that is 3-D triangular in shape and has a black hull. The hull has been removed in this grain leaving it a greenish yellow colour. It can be ground into flour or cooked whole.
Buckwheat groats are a mild flavoured favourite addition to casseroles, soups and stews or cooked like other grains, as a pilaf- or risotto-style side dish. Cooked buckwheat groats can also be used in salads somewhat like bulgur, semolina, pearl barley or rice, or they can even be used as a hot breakfast cereal with fresh fruit and spices.
Cooking Directions: Cover and simmer in 1 1/2 part of water for 1 part of buckwheat. Cook 15-20 minutes or until water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Add your favourite seasonings.

Love these! I rinse and soak for a few hours, drain, then let sprout! So easy. Just leave them in a strainer for 2 days and rinse twice a day. I then use them to make homemade granola!

I use the buckwheat along with chia seed and hemp hearts, dried apple and cranberries for my breakfast. I soak it in milk for a few minutes and then add yoghurt and fresh fruit for a filling breakfast.
This is my favourite well.ca product. I just boil it for 10 minutes then eat it like cereal. I just wish it came in bigger bags.
