The founder named the company after his sister Maybel, from whom he originally received the idea of producing and selling an easy-to-use product to darken eyelashes. The first product, Maybelline Cake Mascara, was only offered through the mail, but quickly became so popular that women began asking for it in drugstores. Don't ask me why, but due to that stupid hype on this mascara, I've used it twice since it came in a package of two... it is NOT washable. I had so much difficulty washing it off with makeup remover (twice). It would still leave dark stains under the eyes. It does clump, it does get sticky and uck. Pretty much not worth any of your pennies. I would NOT recommend it.

Wow this 'washable' mascara IS SO NOT WASHABLE. It takes forever to get it off, and even with heavy duty makeup remover it still leaves this dark stain under my eyes. Also...it doesn't even do a good job being a mascara, my lashes looked hideous. It clumps and does not lengthen or volumize. It's the most over-hyped mascara EVER.Makeup artist swear by this mascara, but it's only good for photoshoots where you have to spend 20 minutes reapplying coats after coats of this mascara because of it's wet build up, which is not realistic for an everyday mascara

Its alright, but mostly just hype. I'm sure there are other mascaras out there for the same price that do way better. I started using it for a week, and i thought, 'hmm its pretty good'. But it was such a chore to remove it, with my eye makeup remover it didn't come off completely, and left my eye looking dark. People started telling me that i should get more sleep because i looked so tired, but that definitely wasnt the case, because i get 9 hours a night. It was just the mascara not being easily removed. Sure, it's waterproof, but i draw the line at UNremovable.
