Medela nipple shields are the reason I am able to breast feed my son. The holes are small enough that I don't get sore when using them, and the contact helps the shield stay in place. I've tried almost all shields on the market, and these are the best by far!

I had a really hard time getting his latch right, even after multiple sessions with lactation consultants. My nipples were more than sore, they had large, open wounds on them. I really wanted to keep breastfeeding despite our troubles and managed it handily with this nipple shield. Allowed my nipples to heal and he got the milk he wanted. We used it for at least a couple of months. Weaning him off it was ridiculously easy (took only a couple of days of sometimes having it on, sometimes off). I highly recommend this product to anyone who has really sore nipples but wants to keep nursing.(Note: I had tonnes of milk, so supply was not a problem.)

This product has been especially useful for feeding my daughter born three months prematurely. Easy to position, easy for her to latch, and stays put. Only con is the silicone gets weird after sanitizing (looks yucky!), but washing with a drop of dish soap removes residue & it's good as new.

my baby didnt latch since birth until 11 weeks because of tough labour .He latched only with nipple shield at 11 weeks n it was the only thing that helped me get him to the breast and associate his food to the breast n now im weaning him off after three weeks of using nipple shield.contact ones are easier to manage and let your kid smell your breast so i find this a great help:)
