I have been dealing with yeast infections, UTI's AND bacterial vaginosis for over three years now. After giving up on anti-biotics and doing some forum research online I found that taking d-mannose has been rumoured to help. I went to a health food store in my area and found some, and the staff explained to me that if I had an active infection to simply double the dosage from a few days to a week until symptoms subsided. Sure enough it's worked for me. It may not work for everyone but it seems to be working for a lot of women, so spread the word!
Does not work for me. In fact a few days after I began using it, I got a U.T.I. Just my luck
I first got D-Mannose from my pharmacist because I didnt have a Doctor and needed something fast. You are supposed to take it daily to prevent but when you have a U.T.I this is what the dosage should be, according to her: Day 1) 2 pills every 2 hours for a maximum of 10 pills. Day 2) 1 pill every 2 hours for a maximum of 5 pills. Day 3) 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night. Day 4) 1 pill in the morning, 1 at night...and then 1 a day. This may be why some people are finding it not working for their actual infection. I swear this works and is better than taking an antibiotic which only causes other health problems (for me).
I have found this product to be very effective in keeping urinary tract infections from occurring. I use it for prevention
It worked while using them. I took the NOW powder version first, followed by these capsules as a preventative dose. The powder is more effective in my opinion. The price is too high.
I've experienced constant UTIs in the past, however after taking this product for the past month and a half, I'm happy to say I've had no problems since. I highly recommend it to help prevent UTIs. Although the label says to take 2 capsules a day, I've been doing fine on just one a day.
I have never had a product that I rely totally on until Quest D-Mannose. After years of steady UTI's without any relief from antibiotics , I was introduced to this product by a friend and I have had no problem since. I have recommended it to many other people who have had no luck with anti-biotics and for the most of them it has also been a blessing. I hope that you will never take this away!!!!
I can't imagine doing what the reviewer below said and taking 4 pills a day, and then 5 or 6 a day when symptoms start - that means that one $28-dollar bottle would last less than 2 weeks! FYI, the instructions on the bottle say to take 2 a day for at least 4 weeks to see any benefits, so one bottle is expected to last a month. That's a $2/day treatment.
I bought the stuff anyway because of the high reviews and took them for two weeks without any success, along with cranberry pills, to help "cure" a minor UTI. In my case they did not help at all, and I didn't have a serious infection or serious symptoms. Don't presume that you can stave off going to the doctor because you took these, but if you get recurrent UTIs and want to prevent them, perhaps it will be helpful to you.
This is the only brank of d-mannose that has consistently worked to prevent and CURE UTIs (urinary tract infections). According to my nutritioinist's instructions, I take 4 pills with about 12-14 ounces of water once or twice a day, as needed. (Many days or weeks I do not take it at all.) On a day I feel that I may be getting a UTI, i will take one or two pills at a time, with a lot of water, throughout the day, in addition fo the initial four. There are zero side effects. (i would not recommend taking them every day all the time, unless needed). The only time it did not work was when I was already experiencing a full-blown serious infection -- which I have not had in years because of this product. Highly recommended.
