Director of Merchandising

Job Description:

Are you eager to become a member of Canada’s largest online Health, Beauty and Baby store? Well.ca is looking for a Director of Merchandising to become a key leader to our growing Merchandising team. You will be instrumental in building and operating one of Canada’s largest e-commerce businesses. You will also be part of fostering our fantastic culture and proving direction to the merchandising and inventory teams. This role has direct responsibility for the revenue and gross margin lines on the P&L, along with the overarching inventory plan for Well.ca.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coach a team of buyers, planners and merchandising assistants.
• Responsible for overall category strategy and growth targets.
• Develop and execute annual operating plan for revenue, margin and inventory for categories within your management.
• Develop and maintain key strategic vendor partnerships.
• Negotiate with vendors and execute pricing and promotional strategy.
• Participate in company strategic initiatives
• Create innovative opportunities to increase retail performance

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Merchandising or related experience
• Excellent team leader with demonstrated success in leading and developing teams
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into both strategic ideas and relevant immediate actions
• Proven negotiating experience
• 3+ years of Online/e-commerce experience an asset
• Intermediate/advanced knowledge of web analytics programs considered an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field of study
