    Merchandise Planner

    Job Description:

    At Well.ca, we are looking for a talented, committed, detail-oriented and customer focused Merchandise Planner who will become a vital part of our Merchandising team. Reporting to the Director of Merchandise, the Merchandise Planner will build strong relationships with our people, customers and partners by working alongside our Buyers. The Merchandise Planner will provide financial insight and operational support to help drive the business.

    Responsibilities:

    The Merchandise Planner will own the growth and development of a specific category, including:

    • Supports Buyers in the forecasting process by executing new and seasonal buys, developing in-season forecasts, and managing in season corrective actions as required.
    • Work with Buyers to provide category insight and analyze seasonal and core merchandise sales, inventory, profitability and make recommendations to maximize profitability.
    • Work with Operations and Buyers to establish inventory flow and markdown strategy aligning to an Inventory and Net Margin budget
    • Monitor and manage key brands in season to maximize sales margin.
    • Support promo planning as required.
    • Perform slow seller and aged inventory analysis.
    • Build and analyze weekly performance metrics.
    • Develop and provide a suitable business analysis to influence future purchases.
    • Develop a seamless relationship with Promotions, Marketing, Finance and Operations to ensure consistent communication.
    • Provide adhoc business reports and analysis as needed

    Qualifications:

    • An undergraduate degree within a Business or Finance related discipline.
    • 2+ years of experience in a similar position with expertise in merchandise planning.
    • A comprehensive understanding of customers, competitors and retail trends; knowledge of the health, wellness, baby and beauty market is considered an asset.
    • Extensive business knowledge of retail and merchandising concepts.
    • Ability to interpret financial data to make decisions and recommendations that impact the business.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
    • Results oriented with a strong sense of motivation.
