Organic Shikakai comes from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acadia Concinna and has been used for millennia in India as a gentle conditioning cleanser for both skin and hair. We extract the Shikakai in organic sugar and grape juice and combine with Dr. Bronner's unsurpassed castile soap base for rich emollient lather and moisturizing afterfeel.

Nice soap, horrible dispenser
Dr. Bronner's is the liquid soap we use exclusively, although we also use some bar soap. This soap is very nice but about every third dispenser does not pump at all so I always check before starting a new one and use the old pump if the new one doesn't work. But really, this company is promoting that their soap is good for the earth and yet doesn't make a more environmentally-friendly packaged refill! I've contacted them several times about this and they don't even respond. If you want to be earth-friendly then do it all the way. Lots of unnecessary plastic in the landfill or recycling.
