Richer in body than light roasts, these coffees are roasted to a dark brown color, but without any oil on the surface of the bean.
A Fair Trade Coffee:
Fair Trade begins with small farmers who bind together to develop community co-operatives. Working with Transfair Canada (Max Havelaar in Europe) the community negotiates a favourable price, or “living wage”. Fair trade ultimately leverages consumer-buying power to help producers to help themselves.
The Transfair Canada logo on the packaging is your independent guarantee that the coffee meets international fair trade standards. For coffee farmers it means fair wages, social and environmental standards, and additional funds for local community development.
