Antacids are used for the treatment of acid indigestion, heartburn and upset stomach. Nova Scotia Organics Antacid uses Calcium Carbonate from Organic Chicken Egg Shells.
Your stomach produces acid to help with the digestion of food. That acid is very corrosive to the lining of your stomach. Our bodies cope with this acid by producing a natural mucosal barrier which protects the lining of the stomach from being worn away. When the lining of your stomach is irritated, damaged, or your body over produces acid, it can lead to heartburn, upset stomach and acid indigestion.
Antacids are the most commonly used product for treating heartburn discomfort. Most antacids are made from bases such as calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, aluminum or magnesium hydroxide. They work by neutralizing the acid in your stomach. Calcium carbonate in particular starts to work in seconds and works longer to relieve the symptoms of acid indigestion, heartburn and upset stomach.
Directions: Take 1 chewable tablet with meals or as needed. Do not exceed 5 tablets per day.
