Spirulina is an edible, one-celled form of blue-green algae that’s been growing on earth for over 3.5 billion years. It has been enjoyed as a dietary supplement around the globe for centuries and was traditionally incorporated into Mexican menus during the Aztec civilization.
Considered to be a complete food, spirulina is grown in alkaline water and is commonly cultivated and harvested from open-air, freshwater pools. Because it is so easy to grow and harvest, it is considered an extremely sustainable food source. Spirulina as an ingredient is one of the highest plant-based proteins per serving in the world, with a very high concentration of bio-available iron, and a source of all essential amino acids.
Spirulina is known for helping reduce symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and contains beta-carotene, which helps support eye health and night vision. The high naturally occuring chlorophyll content means it’s can also support with natural detoxification.
Since it is so rich in iron and protein, spirulina can also aid in red blood cell production and muscle repair within the body. The high protein content can also help stabilize blood sugar when taken between meals.
Organika’s Spirulina is consistently examined for the highest purity and quality to meet our standards. Grown in a region in Mongolia, the air in this area is some of most pristine in the world. The location is unique because it’s safe from pesticides, uses overhead protection to stop bacteria and debris from getting into pools and is free from heavy metals. The product is extracted from deep pools of water nearly 400m below the ground. This ensures that the algae being extracted are uncontaminated, as other sources have been known to carry heavy metals. The product is produced in an attached ISO certified, HACCP certified, Kosher certified, Organic certified, CMP facility. Their testing is done to ensure we not only meet but exceed Health Canada standards. Their algal toxin testing includes microcystins, BMAA, benzopyrene, pesticides, and aflatoxins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chany828 from Nevermind the Taste: Goodbye to Cramps I bought this because a month ago I used 1 tsp daily mixed with water almost 2 weeks before my menstration cycle started and I found that I had absolutely no cramps. I typically have to take an over the counter pain medication religiously or I fall terribly ill, so I was very pleased and happy to add this to my monthly routine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MC4 from Great product Tried this product for the first time to add to my morning smoothie. The first time I used it the vibrant green color made the smoothie look like it would taste very strong but I was pleasantly surprised with the mild flavor. Will keep adding this to the morning smoothie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by littlebit from This is a product I use every day in my green juice for the plant protein I need as a vegan. Although I do not care for the smell and taste alone(LOL, it is algae after all), mixed in my smoothie everyday with lots of other ingredients makes it okay. Hope this helps.
