I was reluctant to use regular sunscreen on my infant son because of all the chemicals, but I wanted something that would be effective, not just chemical-free. It is greasy, but it goes on well; I didn't have to use a lot to ensure he was well-covered. I used it on my son every time we went outside this summer, including trips to the beach and pool, and he didn't burn or even tan, so it is very effective.

This is a terrible product. Before we even used it, it was already stale. The expiry date is still valid. It was very disapointing. I since found another chemical free sunblock for my son. That works great and it's scent free and for super sensitive skin and it's not stale.

A great natural sunscreen for kids. This is my first sunscreen for my baby, so I can't compare with others. But, the product is non whitening, does not have any strong scent and the SPF is not too high (you actually don't need anything higher than SPF 30 for kids.) Even if it is a little greasy, it is not a big deal to me knowing that my baby is using a natural product. I even use it for myself on the body.

This product seemed pretty good besides the greasiness. However my son is allergic to sunflower oil which is an ingredient (the one that provides the sent I believe). So I can't use it on him. I started using it on myself and found that bees were attracted to the scent too.

I love how well this goes onto my baby's skin, and doesn't leave her skin overly greasy. No strong smells, and a little goes such a long way. This is my go-to sunscreen for her, and will continue to use it as she grows. The size of it may seem small, but it will last you a long time! Also, the size allows for me to carry it in my purse, so I have it available at all times.

I do like the fact that this products use safe ingredients and is made in Canada, but it is way too greasy that it makes the skin so sticky and uncomfortable. Love that there is a non-chemical sunscreen available for kids. Doesn't leave white chalky look on skin. Drawbacks are that it is very oily and heavy-feeling and it stains fabric. And sand LOVES to stick to it, so my little one becomes walking sandpaper after playing around in the sandbox! I use it for my skin because I have dry skin and it benefits from the oily nature of the lotion, but then i put baby powder on top and it takes away from the greasyness.

Shoot! I meant that it was Goddess Garden natural sunscreen that we purchased from here as a less greasy substitute. But we still use this for the kids' faces as they don't need to worry so much about getting things greasy before we go out when it's only on their faces.

Ok I've been using this for a while now, and it's just awful. It's wonderful that it's so effective, but it's TOO greasy, and if you have a lot of wooden furniture I would suggest that you a.) keep your kids in a bubble until they leave the house or b.) maybe try a different brand. We also bought the Garden Naturals brand from Well.ca, and it's much easier to apply and not nearly as greasy! It seems to be weird on the face though so we'll continue using this on the kids' faces until we get a face stick. Otherwise I don't know if this is a repurchase for us. I REALLY really wanted to love this one, but it's just ok. If it weren't so darn greasy this would be amazing. Massaging the tube before putting it on makes it easier to apply, but it's too greasy for every day application for us.

I am a big fan of Green Beaver, but this is just to greasy to use. I massaged the tube, rubbed it in, and even after waiting a while, it is still greasy. Just ordered Goddess Garden spray sunscreen and will try it in my attempt at finding a more natural sunscreen that is easy to apply and works!

We have been using this sunscreen with our 17mth old for the last few weeks now. We were originally using the Badger brand but it's main ingredient is shea butter and our daycare stated that Shea Butter comes from a nut so we cannot use that product while at daycare.
It goes on easy, a bit greasy and does occasionally cause some mild acne on her cheeks as the sunflower oil likely clogs her poores. However, it's a small trade off for not having to expose her to the aweful chemicals in regular sunscreen. She would break out in a rash using the Ombrelle which was supposed to be hypoalergenic, but also contained over 30 chemicals in iit that one can barely pronounce. She has not reacted poorly to the Green Beaver at all and it has kept her skin well protected from the Sun.
This will be our regular sunscreeen for our child now and likely for the rest of her childhood.

We have never used chemical-based sunscreens on our son, but have found others to be heavy and leave a white film. I really enjoy other products by Green Beaver, so I was excited when I saw they had a sunscreen for kids. Although there is no white film, this sunscreen is EXTREMELY greasy. Our son is outside for a few minutes and is completely covered in dirt and I don't even want to touch him when he's wearing it! I tried it myself and found that it even felt heavy despite the greasiness. So, I give it points for: 1) being chemical-free and organic, 2) not leaving a white film, 3) being unscented, 4) being made by a Canadian company. I love green beaver so I hate to leave a bad review but this product truly is awful. I used it for two summers because non toxic, mineral sunscreens were hard to come by so I put up with the greasy, foul smelling lotion. My poor kids, every time they put it on they werent allowed on the furniture or to lean on the walls because it leaves a disgusting slime trail. I'm going to give the Aubrey organics a try. Anything else has GOT to be better. The positive reviewers are using the organic nature of the product to influence their reviews I think.

Unlike some reviewrs, I love that it contains "cooking oil" as a base (what's safe to eat, should be safe to put on ones skin).
It is clear,non-whitening at all .Which is puzzling to me, given that Zinc Oxide particles are some-what bigger than "nano".
It is greasy, but thin and runny just enough to spread easily and smoothly on baby's skin.
I will not be looking for another brand.

Compared to other chemical free sunscreens i really like how easy this is to put on, and doesn't leave my kids looking as white as a ghost. They have never had a sunburn with this product. My only complaint is that it is VERY greasy. I literally have to wipe my hands off after applying it, and my kids hair always gets greasy from their faces.

Yes, its greasy but most of it does go away if you wait a little bit before going out in the heat. It was fine on my daughter and myself. I prefer being a little oily over using other sunscreens with chemicals in it. It protects very well, we werent even a little bit red after being in the sun and thats whats important. A "little greasy" does not begin to describe this product! I had high hopes, assuming that other reviewers were exaggerating the greasiness, and am completely disappointed. In our vacation photos, it looks like I coated my son in baby oil before setting him loose on the beach! Huge let down :( On a positive note, it is effective for sun protection and easier to apply than other physical sunblocks I've tried.

Although it's marketed as 100% Natural, was not sure about some of the ingredients (Polyhydroxystearic Acid? Huh?) so I had to look them up.
And it does stay a bit greasy, but because of this (and because of the cost - !!) we try to use it sparingly on our child. All in all a much better alternative to other kids sunscreens.

I like the non-whitening part and was great for my toddlers sensitive skin. It does take a few minutes to soak in because it is a bit greasy. But it wasn't an issue for us.

Easy to apply, no white marks, the kids don't mind the smell, and it was recommended by the EWG. So we will buy this again.
We did not like that the product stays tackie feeling for a good 15-30 minutes before it soaks in. But the positives out weigh the negatives.

Excellent for my sensitive skin toddler (1.5 yrs old). She has had no issues with reactions. It is not thick or white and it doesn't smell at all. Goes on really smoothly, but is quite greasy. Love this stuff and would not be scared to put it on a smaller baby either. Trust the brand. Way to go, GB!

Excellent sunscreen for my toddler with sensitive skin. Excellent protection, no weird rashes like gets from other chemical sunscreens, no whiteness, and no terrible smells (or taste!). It IS greasy... but it's a non-issue with all the benefits!

It's a bit greasy and hard to wash off your hands, however that is also what makes it waterproof so it's worth it. The benefits outway the slight greasiness by a long shot. Easy to apply, basically scentless, and works great on me and my toddler!

I just received the Green Beaver sunscreen and so far I'm happy with the product. I read reviews about how greasy it is so I was a little apprehensive about buying it. I have to say I don't find it any more greasy than regular sunscreen and I found that it does absorb over time. I am excited to have a product that I feel comfortable putting on my 6 month old.

Terribly oily! NEVER soaks into the skin so you feel like an oil slick the entire time you are wearing it! Smells strange too. My 3 year old cries when I pull lit out and says, "Not THAT sunscreen!" Too bad because I like the idea of it being chemical free and Canadian. I'll have to continue my hunt for a good one.

It's nice that this is non-whitening, but it is SO oily. Once I've slathered up my children and myself, there is so much oil on my hands I can barely wash it off. The oil gets on clothes, car seats, even the steering wheel. As much as I want to buy a locally-made, safe product, I won't be buying this again. In fact, I'm sorely tempted to throw out the half-bottle we have left.

I ordered this sunscreen after looking everywhere for a baby sunblock with non-chemical blockers. They are extremely hard to find. It seems like a great product, but we've only used it a couple of times as the weather's been awful. Like others, I found it a little greasy, but that's a fair trade-off for all the good that's in it.

I am more than impressed with this product and will purchase it again. I used to buy another brand of natural sunscreen lotion but this one is way better as it rubs easily and lives no white marks like other ones. It is the sunscream of choice in our family.

I love the way this screen doesn't make the kids look like little ghosts! I've started using it as my daily facial moisturizer on sunny days. It's a little greasier than my usual "kiss my face" lotion but it's worth it for the sun protection. I will definitely buy it again.

I got this sunscreen because of its excellent EWG rating (http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2011sunscreen/) and I've got no complaints. It's a tiny bit oily but my 14 month-old with sensitive skin has used it daily with no issues, and I love that I'm not rubbing a bunch of mystery chemicals into his little body!

This is a great sunscreen. My children love this sunscreen and now my oldest wants to apply her sunscreen herself. The consistency is a bit greasy but that is ok for children and it stays on the skin better and longer, which is what is best for sunscreen protection.

I like the fact that the product is all natural and safe to use on children. However, I found it to be really greasy. My 6 year old told me he "is all shiny" when he has the sunscreen on. I will keep using it on my kids though - it's a small trade-off for a safe product and good sun protection.

i really like this product. the non whitening zinc is amazing, makes using chemical free sunscreen much more convenient.
yes its a little oily, but if you look at the ingredient list none of the oils are comedogenic ones so its not going to cause breakouts. anyone who knows anything about OCM knows that oil isn't the enemy.
i personally think the safety of my children is worth the slight inconvenience of being greasy.

I like that it is non-toxic and non-whitening. It is also effective at protecting them from the sun. I do not like how greasy it is. Even my kids (2 & 4) don't want to wear it because it is too greasy.

I really want to love this product given it's all natural and Canadian made. Unfortunately after a test use on my self I feel reluctant to use it on my baby. It is wayyyyyyyyyy too oily and doesn't set in. The all natural non-whitening concept is great, but the performance falls short. Unless I got a faulty one by chance?

Rubs in really easily! No chemicals, so safe for everyone - even newborn babies. The active ingredient is the same as the one in diaper cream, so I have no worries. I couldn't find a sunscreen in any local stores that was baby safe, so thank goodness for well.ca.

Using this on my kids and myself. Encourages us to cover-up a little more as it is so expensive and we are outside a lot! I use it on my face, but hope I don't get any breakouts because it is oily.
