Beautiful colour!
I’m a natural red head and already use the copper penny shade to liven up my hair. I decided to try the ruby for a darker, wintertime red. It looks beautiful, rich and natural. These glosses are amazing if you use them as they are supposed to be used. A gloss isn’t meant to cover your greys, nor is it a hair dye. The person who gave this product 3 stars did not use this product properly. You are meant to stay within your current colour range. Don’t use this colour if you have blonde hair for example. It’s not meant to bring you from blonde to red. It’s meant to accentuate your red or add red tones to brown.

Covers grey-but not in a good way
I tried the 'copper penny' and was pleased with the results so I tried this true red on my naturally dirty blond hair. Day one looked pretty good, full coverage with a nice vibrant change. Unfortunately, after the first wash when the toner started to fade my grey hair was left looking pink. 5 washes down the road and my hair is almost completely back to dirty blonde....except the white at my temples...which is still an unsightly colour of pink.
I was hoping, as other reviews suggested, that this product would not cover my grey as I like my white streaks.
If you are looking for full coverage, you will get it. I would not, however, recommend this colour in particular for greying/naturally white hair.

Ruby Red works great at combating green tones
I had dyed my hair green and stripped it. It was a muddy green/brown and I didn’t want to dye my hair with permanent colours and semi permanent colours didn’t work. I tried this as a last resort and it worked amazing. I was expecting the green to come back since this isn’t a permanent fix but never came back.

The right balance of gentleness and coverage
A few months ago I fried my ultrafine hair at a salon trying a volumizing perm. I had always dyed my hair with drugstore permanent box colour but I needed to switch to something gentler while this grew out! The "Ruby" Kristen Ess was sold out everywhere so I initially tried another option and while it was very conditioning, it didn't cover my roots at all. I finally got my hands on the Ruby from Well.ca and it was a stronger dye, with an peroxide activator, but still gentler than my previous ammonia-based permanent dye. My box mentioned gloves but didn't contain any. I don't have a ton of hair so I mixed half of each bottle into a reusable dye applicator bottle and saved the rest for later. I applied it directly to my dry roots because I wanted stronger coverage there - I basically followed the "ombre" instructions from the package (or more like my old root touch-up approach) except with dry hair. After 20 minutes I mixed the rest through the rest of my jaw-length hair with a bit of added water. I did shampoo my hair after rinsing it out, as instructed, and this may be what helped lift any stain from my scalp. My hair felt dry and rough while shampooing but after conditioning it felt fine. I was left with quite good coverage that solved by root problem! My greys were a bit paler than the rest near my scalp, but more like pale copper highlights. The only downside is that my hair will drip orange whenever it is wet, so I'll have to use my old dye towel and make sure my hair is dry before bed!
