Orignial is better but this homie works too
This formula is not awful, it works it lasts as long as the original.
the only issue is it does have a strong and strange smell and taste. I cannot explain it but I kind of hate it. It's chemically generally a bit yucky.
It also has a slightly grainy feel on my lips. not a fan of that. but for the price and in a pinch (I am always in desperate need of lip balm) I would absolutely pick this over every other lip balm in stores.
Its lasting and nourishing qualities are simply unmatched.

Super Soft Lips
I received this product for free from Influenster and Nivea in exchange for my honest review.
Just like my skin, my lips are often very dry and I have to constantly rely on lip balms. Nivea has always been my go-to for this and I’ve never been disappointed. Such a great product at such a great price. And with regular use, I never have to worry about dry, cracked lips. And this thing even has SPF15 in it! I carry it with me everywhere and couldn’t be happier with it! Awesome!

Awful formula change
I have been using this for years, and loved it until a recent restock. At first I thought maybe I just got a bad batch, so I bought some from a different retailer, but no... it's terrible. It dries my lips more than hydrating now, the texture has changed, the there is a weird non-descript smell and taste that didn't used to exist that makes this unwearable for me. Don't know why companies have to go and ruin a great thing, but I won't trust any other Nivea lip balms again.

Bring back the old formula
This was the best lip balm on the market and the only one I would buy. Unfortunately, Nivea changed the formula for the worse. It is now heavily fragranced and when applied is the only thing I can smell. Sadly it’s unwearable. I have a few tubes of the original formula left and I’m trying to make them last. I’ve tried several other products in an attempt to find a replacement and haven’t found anything that’s as good as the original Essential formula. Please bring it back!

Bring back the old formula - new one tastes bad
This is legit so bad. The smell is nauseating and I taste it every time I apply or eat. I came on this website to see if it's only me, but it's not just me. Had to wipe it off and find another alternative to my holy grail. Why fix something that isn't broken? Changing something just to call it new and improved won't help get new customers if old ones are leaving at a more rapid rate. Please change formula back to the old one (blue with navy font).

New formula
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This was my favourite chapstick ever. But you guys changed the formula and it actually is the saddest thing ever. The shelves are being stocked less and less with the good stuff (the light blue tube with the navy text). It's IMPOSSIBLE to find. Please bring the old formula back. I would pay anything. Best chapstick ever. I promote it to everyone. Im so saddened by this

From great to awful
Like others I have been using this product for year. I would always stick up. Well I just got into the new batch and this formulation is the worst. What was once silky and hydrating is now thick and lacks moisture. I don’t know why they decided to change what was already working. Super disappointed because now I need to look elsewhere for a comparable product to the old formulation.

Typical Cheap Lip Balm
It works as any other cheap lipbalm. Was in detox when I first tried it. Needed some lip stuff, so someone dropped this off for me. Light feeling, but didn't help much at all. Didn't have much of a choice, but I also am not a big fan of Nivea considering their parent company and animal testing.. Especially in 2023; this company is stuck in the past, just as their products are

Not what it used to be
Terrible, just terrible. I used this product for years and loved it. Then suddenly they changed the formula. Now it is quite possibly the worst lip balm on the planet. It literally dries your lips out almost instantly instead of hydrating them. I really can’t believe that this is even still a product that major retailers carry. Just read the reviews. It’s beyond horrible.

I recently realized that using this product is giving me some immediate relief but, in the long run, it is actually causing my lips to dry even more – therefore making me feel like I need to apply more and more.
This was a bit of a waste as I ended up throwing two almost unused lip balms. Quite disappointing as my wife swears by Nivea products.

Great product but do not overuse
I trust Nivea with my moisturizing needs. I feel like it’s a great lob balm but just like any other moisturizer .. do not overuse! If you’re applying the lip balm to your lips excessively (more than 3 times a day) you will dry out your lips more. So be conscious of that and use once or twice a day as needed. A little goes a long way

I can’t with this…
Please, I beg you, fix this formula. I was an avid consumer of the Nivia Essentials 12 hour formula… I have tubes left that I’m savoring as my replacements (the new formula ) have destroyed my lips and cause them to crack. I will no longer purchase Nivia products if this is the quality they feel is worthy of production.

Bring back the old formula!
My original review seems to have been deleted. I wish they would listen to their customers and bring back the old formula which was silky and amazing. This one is thick, sticky and waxy. It also smells gross which is a bummer. Please go back to the old one which was perfect for so many years!!!

Formula ok, scent gone!
I don't mind the new formula, although I do agree with previous reviewers that the old formula was more buttery and smooth, more pleasant to apply. The only downside is that the lovely classic Nivea scent seems to be gone! I always enjoyed cracking this open and the lovely scent greeting me.

New formula is heavily scented and smells so bad. I spent money on 4 different 2pks at different stores, and it's all the same level of disgusting. It's like I ate a bowl of really bad potpourri. Please Nivea, I beg of you, go back to the original formula!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used Nivea for years, but this new one has a different scent to it. The package label did not say it was scented. I don't use anything scented or perfumed and i don't care for this at all. I'll have to give the barely-used tubes away and buy something else.

I've been a loyal client for so many years. This lip balm was perfect. So sad Nivea decided to change it. Why? Client satisfaction is not part of your priorities? So many unsatisfied peeps about this pivot to new formula. Please bring back the good old formula!

I love this lip balm. It's the only only one I buy now. It goes on smooth and keeps my lips moisturized for hours. I've never liked the feel of lipstick so I've never used it. I have multiple tubes so I can always find it when needed. A must at bedtime.

Soothing coverage with staying power
I tend to bite my lips which get dry and sore especially in Winter. Nivea's balm spreads smoothly providing a protective veneer. It applies easily and nourishes sensitive skin giving it time to heal. It is thicker and silkier than other lip products.

Terrible, does not work
Tastes like hand lotion, then stays in your mouth for so long after. Doesn't work a lick, not even on dry spots on hands. seems to just make the splitting skin even worse and more painful.
Came here to see if it was just me, but no there are others.

The new formula is very different and has an awful perfume. It feels completely different from the original. I will not be buying this product again. Hopefully, the company will listen to all their customer reviews, which appear to be unanimous.

Its really not that bad
I used the lip balms for a will and really think they do a good job. I use it every day and its a life saver. Its not expensive, working, smell good and very pratical in a lot of situations. I dont see why people hate on them, they are great.

Bring back the better 12 hour formula
None of the Nivea 24 hour lip balms that I have tried work at all, my lips continue to dry out as if I hadn't applied lib balm. The total change of the Nivea lip balm lineup is not an improvement on any of the 24 hour balms that I've tried.

Dissatisfied
I'm 65 and have used nivea products since my teens. Let me know when you go back to the original lip balm formula. This new formula does not moisturize. Also, I suspect it contains more than 3 oils in it, broke out in a cold sore.

Scent is amazing
A lot of people here are complaining about the scent, but I absolutely love it! It smells really green and fresh. Hard to describe but I find it lovely. The formula is a bit waxy though and tends to wear off quickly.

Smooth lips
I constantly need to have my lips feeling silky smooth I hate dry lips. This worked great for me. It went on smoothly, I didn't get any of that sticky feeling on my lips. And it lasted for quit a long time.

Good lip care
This product is a must-have for winter lip care. The lip balm lasted for 5 month, which included two applications daily. However, quality is different from when I first started buying 3 years ago.
