I used to get cold sores often, and I read that lip balm with an SPF cold help to get them less often (UV light triggers cold sores). This is the only lip balm I buy for that! Why? Because it has BOTH UVA and UVB protection. I find that many other lip balms with an SPF have only the UVA protection, or the UVB, but not both. Smell is quite strong, though - doesn't bother me, but if you don't like strong smells, this isn't for you. It's a super strong smell of something sweet, a sort of artificial candy smell. But it's keeping the cold sores away! :-)

Sorry but the name
Sorry but the name is misleading. This lip balm does protect your lips with the SPF and I didn’t experience any chapping/burning of my lips during summertime (which tends to happen to me because when I’m outside for hours at a time I forget to reapply sunscreen). Unfortunately, it does so without being moisturizing at all so I did have general dryness more so than usual. Not enough to cause peeling of my lips, but enough that it was annoying and I ended up finishing this tube fairly quickly. Wouldn’t repurchase or recommend.

Very difficult to find a lip balm with SPF -especially SPF 25 or higher. This is a great option, It's reasonably long-lasting; moisturizing without being sticky, and does a good job of keeping lips soft. The only drawback is that there is a noticeable scent, though light, so not a complete deal-breaker for me.

This stuff is one of the better drugstore chapsticks I have tried. Pros: you can usually always find it in most grocery and drugstores, the price is right and it does a pretty decent job at moisturizing my lips. Its not the best chapstick Ive ever used but also certainly not the worst. Cons: the scent is nice, but not my favorite. I really want to love the scent of anything thats going to be right under my nose all day!

This is my favorite chapstick. When I first brought it I wasn't sure about it because I was not a fan of blistex but this one hits! I enjoy the feel on my lips and how the "after taste" of it. I enjoy that it doesn't dry my lips out. As for the reports it is true. In the winter my lips do not get that the bite as they did before and in the summer they don't feel like they are peeling.

Five Star Not for ME
Blistex Five Star sound great, keep your lips moisturized and protected from the sun. Great idea but not for me as a person who does drinks a lot of water, I become dehydrated and this Blistex let me down by not keeping my lips moisturized. The 30spf sunscreen did protect my lips from the sun. I will and would not recommend this product to anyone.
