My go-to sunscreen
For me, this is a go-to because it doesn't break me out and is comfortable to wear. It does have a bit of white cast, but because my skin is lighter it's not noticeable (and it provides an anti-redness layer, as I don't wear makeup). I let my other skincare products soak in for 10 minutes before applying sunscreen and then apply the sunscreen only a little bit at a time to minimize pilling. It is a more expensive sunscreen, but a lot of other sunscreens have broken me out, and when you are wearing it every day it's worth it to like the product you are using.

Favourite sunscreen!
This is my favourite sunscreen by far! Light weight, and doesn't break my oily acne-prone skin out! I do find like others that it can pill, only a little bit for me though. However, I have VERY naturally oily skin, and am not layering this on top of anything. I apply my sunscreen and then primer, foundation, and powder. I have pretty light skin with warm undertones and the white cast is not to bad for me, especially under makeup. Love this product and have repurchased numerous times!

Light enough for under Makeup
I am allergic to the sun and most sunscreens and need to use 15% Zinc or more. Often that means super heavy or greasy sunscreens - this is the best I have found so far and will be my third summer using it daily. super super challenging to find an alternative that works and is this light - still heavier than sunscreens less than 15% zinc for obvious reasons

Soaks in well.
I have used many natural sunscreens and this one goes on white but then soaks in well. I use it on my son as well, who is very fair. A little goes a long way too.

Pilling and unwearable!
This sunscreen was expensive and unfortunately it's unwearable because as soon as you apply it, it is pilling! I do not recommend this product. Please fix the formula because I want to support this line but I was so disappointed when I used it.

Love this sunblock!!
Love this sunblock! Love that it’s zinc and safe and doesn’t make me breakout! For those complaining it pills, use a very light touch when applying and wait a few mins before putting makeup on.

Returned
Although the bottle was sealed, it was half empty. I put a bit on my and tried to rub it. No matter what I did, it wouldn't absorb. As it sat on my face, making me look like a ghost, it started to coagulate into messy blobs. I had to hop into the shower to scrub it off. Normally I love Derma E products so I was surprised and disappointed.

Workable under makeup, but too must of a white cast
I'd say this mineral sunscreen is okay to be worn under makeup, as it doesn't leave the skin too oily. I say under makeup, because I personally found that it left too much of a white cast if worn alone. It's liquid enough to be quite easily spread over the face.

Whitens and flakes
I won't buy this again. I have medium brown skin and it ends up looking purply white and flakes off as you rub it in. Disappointing since I love most other DermaE products

I would not recommend
The sunscreen would not rub in it would end up gritty on my skin and I do not wear makeup. The expiry date was almost past due.

What happened?
I loved the Derma E sunscreen from a few years ago (in white & blue packaging). This version is awful - so crumbly!

Sunscreen:
I got a free sample from my work and liked it so-so. I switched to another sunscreen and then one year later forgot why I switched and so rebought this (sigh).
The sunscreen’s major flaw: It pills. It really, really pills. I don’t trust it to protect me because of that. If I rub my face it comes off in pills on my hands.
I use Cerave lotion as a moisturizer and even if I wait hours between moisturizing and putting on sunscreen, even if I put them on together, even if I try just using a facial oil, really no matter what I do, it pills.
And it is not moisturizing enough to use by itself. It’s very light. A little too light since it doesn’t stay on the face.
Major positive: Good for sensitive skin. Non- irritating. Non-cosmedogenic.
But at the end of the day, I need a sunscreen that is effective and this just wasn’t so I returned it.
Some more spiel about it if you’re interested:
All mineral sunscreens leave a white cast. People leaving bad reviews about that are just not informed what product they’re buying.
I have pale, white skin. I’d maybe be like a 2 on the foundation scale to give you an idea. I’ve used a lot of different brands of mineral sunscreens and this one blends into my skin very well. I look a little paler but I hardly notice it.
It is crazy expensive for the quantity but what to say. It does the job, it’s vegan and it’s supposedly less carcinogenic than regular sunscreen. It’s also supposedly not comedogenic which is why I paid double for the face one vs the body one even though it feels like such a rip off.
I only need to use a tiny dollop for my face so it does last a while.
It’s definitely not waterproof so mind your crying and swimming.
Mineral sunscreen will not blend in well on rough patches on the skin so it’s not the best choice if you have eczema or a lot of scabbed acne. I recommend in general using moisturizer first to soften out your skin, waiting a couple minutes and then putting this on top. Works for me.
Tl;dr:
I use Substance sunscreen now and it’s great.
