Think of these like watercolors for your hair! These color depositing
conditioners are made with semi-permanent direct dyes and are a perfect
way to add a splash of temporary color or boost existing color in your
hair. Apply to clean, wet hair for a more subtle look or clean, dry hair
for a slightly more intense color. You can layer these as often as you
want and you can get creative with your application!

Huge mess + cheugy color
I love Kristin Ess glosses in Copper, but because they're always sold out I decided to go for this one which seemed similarly gentle. I was wrong. First of all, calling it a color depositing conditioner is super misleading. This is hair dye. It is bright red and stains EVERYTHING. Even cleaning the bathtub afterwards by scrubbing it with baking soda and various other things, there is still a thin red residue. The color itself is not terracotta, it's a super intense red with purple undertones (not remotely copper or what I thought was considered terracotta). I would recommend sticking to the glosses - they're easy to apply, clean and look great.

Works very well!
I have permanent copper dyed hair so I regularly use colour-depositing conditioner to keep it looking fresh between salon visits. I'm a month behind my "schedule" due to the pandemic so I was excited to try this new one. Excellent experience! It left my hair with a nice deep brick sheen and feeling unusually soft. I've tried many many brands, and this is one of the most potent ones I've tried so far. I mixed it with conditioner - highly recommended! It's VERY pigmented. I used it in the shower which might have been a mistake, as my hands were bright orange for a while but it washed off. It doesn't smell very good, it sort of reminds me of chemicals in the salon, but don't let it put you off. All I smell now is my shampoo. Overall this is a GREAT one for you redheads! And the price is amazing. Love this brand so much.

Amazing results!!
I have been a faithful salon colour customer for years - my stylist consistently gave me the same colour, and I was always happy with it. Before that, I would use box colours, and was never happy with the results. With the pandemic changing so much, I had to find creative ways of trying to keep my colour vibrant (and chase away the silver highlights!). I caved in on a box brand hair colour last month, but lost the vibrancy and fire I am used to. When I saw Kristin Ess Hair Color Depositing Conditioner Terracotta, I thought it might be the solution I was seeking - and it is!! As another customer mentioned, the pigment is INTENSE. I also mistakenly didn't wear gloves when applying it in the shower (the alternative is to apply it on clean, dry hair) - the instructions didn't warn to wear gloves (it indicates this in the cautions, but it would have been useful to have it indicated in the instructions for use!), so I naively thought maybe it didn't cling to skin that badly. Wow, the staining!! Thankfully it was temporary, and it washed out within a couple of days. Regardless, it was WELL worth it because the results were stunning!! This product brought my red hair to life again - it's fiery and glowy. The scent isn't bad - it doesn't have Kristin Ess' signature scent, but I have smelled much worse. I truly recommend this product for anyone looking to put some oomph into their hair (just remember to wear gloves!).

It definitely made a huge difference, just not the color I wanted
Definitely a vibrant change! Just not the copper color I was going for.. in real life it has quite the vibrant fake red tone. Thank goodness I tried a test piece.. that color works fast!

Do not recommend
I have naturally red hair and sometimes use the copper penny gloss to add some extra pop and shine to my hair. I loved the concept of this product but when I tried it I absolutely hated the colour. This is not terracotta. It is more of a reddish pink. Definitely not natural looking. I love the copper penny gloss and will keep using that but this product had such potential and ended up being a total miss for me personally!

Wear gloves, more purple
It was an easy application, left a couple stains on my arm and hands.
And my hair is much darker and deeper purple than I'd like

Oof. Horrendous.
Messy and hard to use without staining your nails, bathroom, etc., even WITH gloves. Smells awful. Would never repurchase.
