The best wet and dry shaver
I bought the philips wet and dry shaver model 5400
recently. I used to have one in my younger years. Imagine my surprise when I opened the packaging and learned that it was manufactured in the Netherlands.
In this day and age of everything being cheapshit from china this was a very welcome surprise.
Would love to see more decent products out of the EU.

One rather loud problem
Nothing wrong with this product when it works. When you make the slightest mistake, such as failing to reinsert the head mechanism upon changing for trimming, you will receive at no charge the first-hand experience of being inside a virtual sawmill. That is the sound made when placing the slightest amount of pressure on your face when attempting to shave with the head mechanism not in the right way. Would love to share the audio file we created to back up this dilemma, but we aren’t able to supply the requisite earplugs. Beware.

My First Ever Electric Shaver
This is the first shaver I have ever had. I have used soap and blades all my adult life so I rated this one as good as I have nothing to compare it to. The shaver has performed as expected. The shaves are close enough but not as close as the blades. I like the ease of use and the less time it takes to shave. There is little skin irritation and after three weeks I'm getting comfortable with it. It is very easy to clean as all that's required is rinsing under the tap.Battery life is certainly adequate

This wet/dry shaver is unreliable
This product has turned to be unreliable in day-to-day operation because the travel lock feature comes on even when I am at home and not travelling. I have to go through various steps (they are different each time) to release the travel lock feature. I never know from one day to another whether I can use this shaver or whether I have to go to a blade.

5420 review
I did not know you have to take off the shave head to use the trimmer.
It feels light when I use it, not a solid feel when shaving.
I like the look of it but not happy, I still like my old one better.

Very smooth but poor shave
I have had several Philips shavers over the years, this shaver is very smooth and extremely easy to clean, however this shaver does a very poor job, you have to really stretch your skin to get all the shaving done, have never had to do that before. Once again, very very smooth, but very poor shave

Shaver part is great but trimmer is ok.
The shaver part works well but the trimmer is not that good. Attaching and detaching the trimmer is not a big deal for me but some others may prefer to have a built-in one. The issue is how weak the trimmer is. I've had cheap battery power trimmers that is stronger.
