Excellent trimmer!
I had a Philips BG version from 2-3 generations ago (BG 728), which was not bad, but batteries stopped charging. I bought the 5020 and the difference is huge. This trimmer is ergonomically light years ahead of the old one, fits in your hand much better, has much larger non-slip grip area and the head angle is ideal, compared to the old one. Seems to run at a greater speed as well, shaves closer.
Included handle is a game-changer, finally allowing for self-shaving of one's back.
Overall, a huge improvement of an already great previous product. Philips has a winner here.
On the downside, it lack a pouch of some sort to put all parts, charger and trimmer in.

Great design with one major flaw.
The design works well except for one drawback...if ever there was a need for a shaver/trimmer to have a pivoting head, this is it. When moving this over the contours of your body, and particularly when reaching around to do your back, it's impossible to keep the head in its optimal position. It would work much better if the head could pivot.
Another reviewer said it tugs and pulls. It does, but you need to move more slowly. Moving slowly will give you better results anyway.

This product is an amazing idea...
This is a product that every man should want to use. Perfect design for back.It can be used everywhere on the body. Only problem is I cant keep it from tugging on the hairs. Can be pretty bad at times. Really want it to work well.

It's alright, but it's missing a charging cradle
The shaver's alright and does what it is supposed to justb like the old versions, but the decision to discontinue a charging cradle - and on top of that without charge indicator - makes it much less desirable than the older series.
I think by saving the costs of the cradle, it got a lot less convenient and added mental stress I don't want to have.
If a competitor comes out with a similar quality product that has a cradle I'll switch in a heartbeat. In the meantime I'll just be disappointed in Philips every time I need to use it.

Style Convenience Performance
Out of the box and ready to use; this really is a smart body groomer that works even before the first charge.
Everything works well and the extension feature is excellent. I also agree that a pivot head would add to the performance but for value and functionality this groomer is a top performer.

Works great / Battery is not durable
The device itself worked well while functional, however in only roughly two years of moderate use and being well cared for, (I take care of all of my electronics) the device no longer charges.

Great on sensitive areas, combs kind of suck
I have used a plug-in electric hair trimmer in the past, with detachable combs and it works really well getting down to 1/4, 1/8" lengths. Much better than this. The combs don't let the hair in to the metal trimmer part, so they never cut. The hair just bends out of the way. So, you have to spend way longer going back and forth over the area to get all the hairs to the same length.
However, I've used this twice without the combs and it works really well to get a close shave on sensitive areas. With other trimmers where I have nicked myself, I haven't once drawn blood with this. For that purpose, it works really well.
The extension for doing the back works really good as well. I don't use combs for that purpose, so it does the job well.
4/5. I would give 5/5 if the combs worked better.

good body groomer but it only runs when unplugged
I am not sure why Philips doesn't offer bodygroom models that work when plugged in. All their models work only when unplugged.
