Not only does this avoid the environmental hazards of plastic floss, it is a much better product. I find the silk floss stronger and easier to hold on to. I'm not going back. I did have one problem in that the concept of the package as dispenser didn't work for me - the little bit of metal to cut the floss popped loose and I couldn't figure how to fix it back...not sure how that is supposed to work. So I cut the floss with scissors, not a biggie. I'm still giving it five stars because it is so much better than plastic floss.

I love this product. I love that it's biodegradable silk floss. Though the downside is that the packaging can't be recycled (at least not in my region) which means creating some waste. I would recommend this floss, just be aware that you'll be creating some waste with the plastic part that houses the floss.

Oooo this floss is great! For some reason I thought it was unscented and when I looked at the package and it said "Mint" I thought, "Oh dear, not Peppermint!" (I find that it irritates my gums/mouth) but lo, and behold, the mint is Spearmint (Huzzah!). Spearmint is so much milder and I find it very pleasant and sweet and not irritating at all. You don't taste anything, you just smell the light spearminty scent. You don't need very much of the floss and as much as the packaging is very nifty (as it becomes the container) I have to tear off the top and I cannot recycle or compost it where I live (so there is some waste after all). As fast as I can see the plastic bottom half does not have a recycling code and the cardboard backing is welded to the plastic and so when it is finished I will have to toss the whole thing in the trash. It isn't perfect (yet) but I see some good progress and companies are thinking in the right direction.
