Black Japonica Rice is juicy and bold, succulent, with a roasted nutty flavor and exotic sweet spiciness. This unique rice variety is nutrient-rich and high in health-promoting anthocyanin antioxidants, like those found in blueberries and blackberries.

Ingredients: Eco-Farmed Whole Grain Black Japonica Rice

Stovetop Cooking Instructions:

1 cup Lundberg Black Japonica rice
2 cups water or broth
1 tbsp. butter (optional)
salt to taste

Combine rice, water, and butter (optional) in a pot and bring to a boil. Cover with a tight-fitting lid, reduce heat to low-simmer, and cook for 40 minutes. Remove from heat (with lid on!) and steam for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork.

If rice is crunchy at the end of cooking time, it may be necessary to add 1-2 Tbsp. liquid and cook longer.

Nice tasting rice and it's good to know that it is a very healthy alternative to white rice. I think that it makes 4 times the dry measurement.

I didn't find that it had any unique flavor, as I was expecting. It cooked up nicely though - the water turns purple, so be careful re possible stains. I would purchase again.
