Polysporin Cold Sore Healing Patch uses hydrocolloid technology to effectively treat the cold sore. The patch forms a protective barrier that contains the virus and enables fast effective healing. Instantly hides, actively heals.
Directions for Use: Apply POLYSPORIN Cold Sore Healing Patch at first sign of an outbreak. When the patch starts to detach from the skin, remove it and replace it with a new one until cold sore is healed. Patches should be used 24 hours a day. On average, the patch will stay on for approximately 8 hours. You do not need to remove the patch every 8 hours, only when it begins to detach.
How to Apply:
CAUTIONS: Do not use inside the mouth, on mucous tissue or to treat genital herpes. Consult your pharmacist or doctor if the cold sore becomes severe and/or an outbreak lasts unusually long.

- Wash hands. Ensure skin is clean and dry. Do not use in combination with cream as the patch may no longer stick to the lesion to provide full treatment benefits.
- Remove applicator from wrapper and hold ends using both hands.
- Gently pull each end of applicator, following the arrows, until adhesive side is half-exposed. Take care not to touch the adhesive side of the patch.
- Gently press the half-exposed part of the patch with a finger to firmly place over the cold sore.
- Slowly pull end of applicator down and away from the skin in a smooth rolling motion until the patch slips from the applicator. Make-up or lipstick can be applied over the patch. Wash your hands after application.

Not worth the money
You waste more then you use. They do not stick properly to the lip. I followed the directions and still they do not stick. You I had a drink it started to peel off. I had high expectations but they have been let down. I went back to my old product for cold sores.

Great product
This is by far my go-to product for cold sores. I get them twice a year during seasonal changes so I’m pretty quick at detecting them.
This last cold sore only lasted 5 days. Before I found these they would last almost two and a half weeks.

Best but not perfect solution
I have been dealing w cold sores for as long as I can remember. I have tried many (if not all creams). I do believe this is the best product at shrinking the time from start to finish. Difficulty and even the reason I found this page is I looked up how to apply this product, I guarantee you will waste a few. You get the first half on but I do not know how to pull down and get the 2nd half to stick and/or apply smoothly (not crinkle up). It's like dealing w duct tape. if it doesn't go on smooth the first time, you cannot reapply or adjust and you end up trying again --- an expensive mistake. When you do get one on properly it does do a pretty good job of hiding the cold sore OR it does a worse job, sometimes it start to come off a little and the it looks like old skin. It is a very frustrating product to apply. I would like to see a video of someone doing it quick & smooth. I have never had one go on smooth. I feel like I am pulling but the patch won't release from the wrapper and as I pull harder it then run risks of not being applied properly.

Just "OK"
I found this product did help hide the cold sore on my lip however every time I took it off my cold sore started to bleed. It ended up lasting longer then usual because it did not dry up as fast as usual. Probably would not use again.

Unusable Packaging
Peeling the wrapper off without damaging the patch is extremely difficult and next to impossible. I am 0 for 6 and completely frustrated with this. I am shocked this product is still on the market. Avoid this product at all costs!!

Not for me
I have suffered from cold sores my whole life. I found this borderline ok. Its just not for me. I find creams are best and even with that they generally seem to last the same amount of time with or without external remedies.

cut it in half!
I had the hardest time using it the first time. Then someone suggested I cut the patch in half, right down the middle. It's a bit tricky to get it off the plastic, but it stays on and looks a lot better (I have small lips).

GOOD FOR HIDING NOT GREAT FOR HEALING
So The good thing about this product is that it does cover the cold sore pretty well. The not so good is that it doesn't speed up the healing process and is quite expensive. You may as well use cream

Use Polysporin Patch in the day, Abreva at night
I used to have cold sores often, less so now after my dentist lasered my lips.
But if I feel the telltale tingle I use polysporing during the daytime. Then put Abreva on a night. And repeat.

Good product but a little problem
I really like this product. It hides the cold sore pretty well and it heals it pretty fast. The only problem is that it leaves a mark on my skin and I had to stop using it because of that.

Keeps the stares at a minimum!
When I get cold sores, the blisters are huge and gross to see/feel. I hate being in public when I have them as it always feels like everyone is staring at it! I've tried everything from blistex, to toothpaste, to salt, etc.. nothing ever helped mask the embarrassment. But now when I get a cold sore, I run to the store to get these! They help conceal the ugly beast and help speed up the process.
I do find my cold sore is irritated when I take off the patch as it sticks so well to the skin that it takes off any healed skin. I have one currently and when I took one of my patches off, it took off the skin and ripped it open. It left me in a bit of pain today, but I still prefer to use these as it helps conceal the infection from being passed to my family a lot better than if I only used a cream. I don't like that you only have limited patches as some tend to get ruined or fold onto itself making it unusable. If you used one a day there's plenty, but you need at least 2 a day..
Overall the product is recommendable and I appreciate having a product to help me avoid the looks and feel more confident in public.

Only product that works
This patch is definitely worth the price. It's all I use when I have a cold sore. Works great at covering it up and keeps it from spreading. Makes living with cold sores bearable.

Awesome !
My wife bought these for my shaving kit. I was away and felt the sting of a cold sore coming on. Applied one of these and caught it before it could become more painful.

Does not do what the packaging states
I found this product very expensive and ineffective. It did not lessen my cold sore time, it did not hide it, and it did not stick on well.

This product is a complete waste of money.
Patches are hard to apply correctly, I have not had one stay in place for more than an hour. Avoid this product!
