Description

The The Ordinary 100% Organic Virgin Sea-Buckthorn Fruit Oil is a high-purity, sustainably-sourced, organic, virgin sea-buckthorn fruit oil derived from the pulp of the sea-buckthorn berry. This oil contains a high amount of rare palmitoleic acid (omega 7) for nourishing & protecting the skin. It also offers other fatty acids like palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid as well as antioxidants like tocopherol (Vitamin E). Its natural orange-red hue is due to the carotenoids, beta-carotene and lycopene. This oil contains moisturizing omega 3, 6, 7 & 9 fatty acids that help to maintain the skins overall normal barrier function.

Directions: Mix a few drops with other treatments in the palm of your hand and apply to the face, ideally at bedtime after application of water-based treatments. Wash hands after application and avoid product contact with fabric as it may stain.

I only use it at night as suggested because it makes my face bright orange - which I think is a lot funnier than any one else in the family does. Nonetheless, I'm pretty skeptical of the whole beauty industry and my skin has been pretty good since starting to use it regularly. It's thick and fights our cold weather related dryness. And I haven't had any zits or anything since using it, but that could be unrelated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the reusable glass bottle For all of the people complaining about the colour of the oil, its GOOD that its that colour, the beneficial caratenoids are what give this oil its colour, depending on your skintone, this would be more of a nighttime use oil and also an oil that you would blend with other products, not to be used by itself. There is nothing wrong with this product. As with everything else, do your own research and find what works best for you based on a trial an error basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, it makes your skin orange. I add it to my night moisturizer, it's not as noticeable. It is however and amazing product. I am now on my third bottle. Sea buckthorn does amazing things for the skin. Don't be afraid of the coloring and just use it at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THEE missing ingredient for my DRY skin In my never-ending research for cures for my chronically dry skin, I already knew sea buckthorn was one of the oils better suited to my skin concerns. I added 3 drops to my nightly use of rosehip hip oil as the last occlusive step. As soon as it touched my face, I was like "oh". It felt really good and really fatty and glided especially smoothly. Yes it is bright orange and my face was yellow, I put a towel over my pillow and went to sleep. When I woke up....I felt like I was looking at my teenage face (I'm 29). My whole face had a natural glow and looked healthy and hydrated. The dry, delicate skin under my eyes had WAY fewer visible lines & looked plump when I smiled. The weird dry, tight, striated lines I had on my cheeks were gone. My DEEP forehead lines are not so deep anymore. Now I also wear it during the day (mixed with argan oil) because the yellow tint cancels out the sickly-grey-cast of my mineral sunscreen. I have my "soft & warm" skin tone back. My skin feels nourished and resilient against future dryness. I can't think of another product that made such a big difference for me after one use. My friend with oily skin didn't like it so she gave me her bottle. I'm over the moon & will definitely repurchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank god I took a chance on this… The reviews are kind of scary, given the colour and the chance for staining and whatnot but I’m pregnant with my second baby (a girl this time) and my skin completely changed and was problematic in so many ways all of the sudden so I was really willing to try anything. I use one drop of this in the morning mixed with my moisturizer and do 2-3 drops before bed on its own before doing my moisturizer and eye cream half an hour later and my skin has done a complete 180. I haven’t had any issues with transferring, but I do put a dark towel down on my pillow at night just in case. I would really recommend trying this if you’re on the fence. The results I’ve had in just 2 weeks have made it a new staple in my routine.
