Clean design. Handle assembly comes off for compact storage. Easy to use. Grind calibration off. Good grip strength required to hold base.
It is a clean design, nice streamlined appearance. Compact. Easy to use. It does a good job of grinding the coffee beans, but it does have its limitations.
Regarding the Grind Calibration:
I don’t know whether it is just the unit I received or whether they are all like that…but the finest grind that I can get on it, set at “0”, is correct for a Moka pot. I just got a Moka pot so the grind works for that, but if you were planning to buy this for doing Turkish coffee, espresso or something that requires a finer grind than the Moka pot, then you will be disappointed. The manual that comes with it, says that a Moka pot grind should be at a grind setting of 8-12, but I needed to grind it at “0” to get the white sugar texture/size needed for that style of brewing. (I checked with my husband regarding this. He’s the coffee expert in the house.). So if you plan on doing a Pour Over or using a French Press, then you will probably need to set the apparatus at a finer grind than the manual recommends for those styles of brewing.
Regarding Ease of Use:
The grinding handle works very well. I’m 67. I did not have trouble getting it to rotate and operate the ceramic grinding heads, however, I know that I have lost some strength in my hands, so I had to put on a silicone glove to hold the base (around the black part) to be able to prevent that from turning while I was rotating the handle assembly. In other words, don’t buy this for someone who no longer has or currently has grip strength issues…get that person something electric.
Ease of Assembly:
Goes together well. Can be taken apart easily. Handle assembly disconnects from the body, so that it can all be stored back in its box to take up less room in the cupboard or be placed in baggage for travel.
