Kristin Ess Hair The One Purple Shampoo

Kristin Ess' loves brass… in her house, not your hair. So she created a purple shampoo that is both great for toning and is sulfate-free (because that combo is hard to find)! If you like ashier tones, you can use this every time you shampoo. If you want more neutral tones, use it every other time you shampoo to balance out unwanted brassiness. It can be used with or without The One Purple Conditioner. And yes, this shampoo can be used on color treated or naturally blonde hair.

Contains Zip-Up Technology:

Kristin Ess' proprietary strengthening complex designed to help "zip-up" split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and color fade.

Toning time!

  • 1. Depending on the thickness of your hair, apply a dime to quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your palm.
  •  2. Apply to wet hair, massaging into the scalp to create a rich lather.
  • 3. With purple shampoo you want to make sure you apply more product where you see more brass. Let it sit a little longer toward the top where hair is less porous and tends to be warmer in tone (2-3 min), then let it run down through the ends where its more porous for less time (1-2 min).
  •  4. Rinse well and follow with conditioner.
  • Tip: If ever you go overboard and your hair gets too ashy for your liking, just shampoo once with The One Signature Shampoo to remove one level of tone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shampoo! Bought this to use on my natural blonde/highlighted hair, along with the matching conditioner. This set smells amazing and will keep your hair smelling good until the next wash. Leaves hair feeling super soft and clean. Overall I am very pleased with the product, however there was a crack in the bottle when it arrived which is starting to create a mess in the shower from leaking. Because of this, I won’t be able to travel with this product unless I put it in a different bottle. Would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for the damaged bottle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this shampoo (but only in winter) I’ve been using this shampoo for about 8 mths and love it. My hair dresser even asked me what purple shampoo I was using because it looked so good. However, there is a warning on the bottle to be careful about sun exposure and it’s totally true. I was outside at the end of May from 4-6 in the evening and I got a splotchy burn on my arms and back even after applying SPF 30. Normally I wouldn’t burn at the time of day even if I wasn’t wearing any sunscreen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great colour! I’ve used this product 3 times now over a couple weeks and that’s all I need! It makes my hair a beautiful blonde colour (kind of ashy) and takes away any brass I possibly had. I let it sit for 3-5 minutes as suggested... any more for me personally and it might have been too much. Finally a purple shampoo that actually works. I’ve gotten compliments on my “new hair” - aka this will save me from having to dye it so often. Love love love.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good! This is my first time using a purple shampoo and I don’t have much complaints! I see some people complaining about the smell, personally I don’t find it has an overpowering smell at all I like it! I have thick hair so I need to do a few more attempts but it definitely makes my blond strands more bright. Doesn’t lather as nicely as I would like but that’s all. Great price!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY Strong Perfume Scent! I had to stop using this product after two uses, because it has a REALLY strong perfume scent, that doesn't go away. It even transfers on to my pillows while I'm sleeping. The formula is also a little on the thicker side, and I found it hard to massage through my hair. There's definitely better Purple Shampoos out there. Won't be buying again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well enough but... First time useing. Bought my first bottle four months ago. I’ve liked it well enough but the shampoo itself has turned into a thick jelly. It’s impossible to squeeze through the opening so I need to twist the lid off and it squeezes out like a thick toothpaste.Frustrating and messy. I use it 2 times/week. Will not purchase again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great toning shampoo I have been using this purple shampoo for a few months now, it does tone very well! I use both the purple shampoo and conditioner a couple times a week to keep my blonde looking fresh. I was paying 3 times the price for the previous brand I was using so I am very happy with this Kristin Ess product!
