Great New product that now travels with me everywhere
Philips gave me this product to review and I have to honestly say...I was very skeptical. Most trimmers I have used have had varying results on their claims and actually never live up to snuff.
When I opened the packaging I was surprised by how small and compact the unit is... power cord and shaver intact (suggestion: should supply a pouch for cord) I began to use this on my stubbly beard and I was impressed continued to some body hair and was further impressed, low and behold...after "trying" on my stubble I ended up a hairless guy in no time at all....I could not believe how LOW this trimmer shaved....this by far was the best thing I ever used.....so friend came over and also very skeptical and was astonished at how quick the results came and again how low this shaver took the hair.
Can use in water or dry...it's a very versatile unit...pitfalls tho I will say on coarser hesitate like my neck and chin....because of hair growth patterns it does not get as smooth as anywhere else...my friend did end up with ingrown hairs coming back (but that's personal hair growth pattern). The only other thing to remember is that even without the safety shield you think it's ok....but be aware that blade can still cut you so be careful in sensitive areas.
All in all....I LOVE this gem of a shaver and now 2 friends also went out to buy it.
It won't solve all your grooming needs but Philips got this right when they made it. Blades last 2-3 months so value savings!
Run out and buy this gem.

Super simple, quick and effective.
Philips gave me this product to review and I absolutely love it. I have been using electric razors for the better part of 10 years now and they all seem to either give too close a shave and cut me or don't do enough for all the power that they sound like they are supposed to be putting out. In the 2 weeks that I have had this I have used it 5 times. The first time I used it I trimmed my beard and shaved my face around it and it was the easiest electric razor I have ever used out of the box as no prep was involved at all. I have also never had a closer shave in my life from an electric and was skeptical myself when I was reading the packaging. It leaves just the right amount of stubble that if you run your hand across any way but against the grain it feels like a clean flat shave and this has the additional benefit of not making your skin burn for a day and prevents ingrown hairs and razor bumps. It also works well on sensitive areas where the skin is thinner as minimal direct pressure is required for it to work causing no cuts. It works in the shower with no issues and is the easiest razor I have ever had to clean period, even with a standard razor. Since its only the one blade, there's nothing really to gunk it up and you can clean it just by blowing on it most of the time. If hairs do get stuck in it you just grab the edge and pull it and the hairs come right out or you can run it under water with the blade on and vibrate the hairs out.
I have tried for over a week to find something negative to say about this as I want my review to be as honest as possible but I just can't find anything wrong with it!
I cannot recommend this razor more. From the ease of the cuts I'm assuming that the blade will last quite a long time and won't need to be replaced anytime soon and even when it does it's not a huge difference from what traditional razor cartridges cost.

A great travel companion!

First off, when it comes to shaving, I prefer to use a traditional razor blade to achieve a close and clean shave. I do own a couple of electric razors. And I use them time-to-time when I decide to grow out a beard and need to maintain it and/or trim it down.
When Philips said they were sending me out a OneBlade to try, I was expecting to get a pretty typical looking electrical shaver. Upon receiving this item, I was quite surprised. It definitely didn’t look like a typical trimmer/shaver. It seemed like a cross between a razor blade and an electrical trimmer. And it wasn’t much bigger than my manual razor. So I was definitely excited to give it a try!
It’s very compact and lightweight, which is a great feature. It is also waterproof so you can use it in the shower. A great idea if you want to control the mess of falling hair to the shower area only, instead of all over the counter. It’s got a built-in rechargeable battery, that charges via a port at the bottom. When I first plugged it in, I was looking on the unit for some type of LED indicating that it was charging. But to my surprise, there was nothing. Then I found a green LED on the power supply itself, that indicated it was charging. I would have preferred a LED on the shaver instead. Also, you can’t use it while it’s charging, that’s a bit of a shame. There are two buttons on the unit. One is a power button, and the other detaches the blade. According to the manual, the blade should last up to 4 months. An additional blade would have been a nice touch, though. The unit comes with 3 trimming combs (1mm/3mm/5mm), so you can trim down your beard to your desired length. However, only 3 combs seems a bit limiting. My other trimmer came with several more combs, giving you a wider range of trimming options.
I’ve been growing out my beard for a couple of weeks now and thought this would be a great opportunity to trim it. Threw on one of the combs and started trimming down my beard with relative ease. It’s so lightweight and compact, that it makes it a breeze to move around my face. The blade was very sharp, and it did a great job of trimming my beard. A few days later, I decided to go in for a clean shave. This time, I had no trimming combs attached. The diagrams in the manual showed that you needed to shave against the grain, or in an upward direction. I prefer to shave downwards to reduce irritation, and when I did, it barely removed any facial hair. Once I started going up, it did a proper job of removing the hair. It definitely wasn’t a close shave like I would get with my razor. But to be fair, none of my other electrical shavers achieved a close shave either. My skin is sensitive, and I got no razor burns or irritations. Even after using it several times over the course of a couple weeks, I experienced no issues.
This trimmer won’t have me throwing out my razor blade for an electrical one. But it does a fantastic job in trimming down your beard or giving you a closer shave if you don’t mind a bit of stubble. It’s so lightweight and compact that it would be a fantastic travel companion. And for the price, it's a solid trimmer. I will definitely be throwing it in my travel bag.
