Good for some things
I would not eat these on their own, they're bitter as heck, chalky, and gritty. However, they can be steeped in vodka or another high proof alcohol to make a delicious chocolate extract.

Love these
I use them in yogurt and smoothies. I don’t find them overly bitter. They have lots of fibre and magnesium in a small amount, so it’s a good and easy way to get those things into your diet.
