Features
Remove plaque and experience a deep effective clean with Sonicare
technology, removing up to 5x more plaque vs. a manual toothbrush.
Sonicare technology gently pulses water between your teeth, for a months
worth of manual brushing in just 2 minutes. The QuadPacer lets you know
when you've spent the optimal amount of time on each section of your
mouth while the SmarTimer signals when your 2 minutes is up. The
pressure sensor flashes red to remind you to ease off, helping to
prevent gum recession, while the 2 intensity settings ensure a
comfortable clean that's right for you. Going electric might feel like a
big step, but with this brush your in safe hands. Its slim ergonomic
design and familiar-shaped head gives you everything you need for an
effective clean. The kit includes 1 Philips Sonicare 4100 Power
Toothbrush, 1 Optimal plaque control (C2 Brush Head) and 1 charger.

Button failure
This is the second time I have had this toothbrush, and the second time it has failed in less than a year. The button wears through very fast. Last time I owned this toothbrush it woke me up in the middle of the night buzzing. There was nothing I could do to stop its demonic frenzy. I panicked in a fit of tired rage, tried to break it in half, and ended up throwing it out the window to buzz to death in the rain. My mom had the same thing happen to hers! Very strange. I'm waiting for the one I currently own to do the same thing, and based on the button already starting to go, I expect it to happen in the near future.

Planned obsolescence?
When I purchased this tooth brush I immediately noticed that the feeling of quality was significantly worse than the Sonicare I had had for ~8yrs before (the battery finally wore out). It was much lighter and felt cheaper (the old version plastic was a glossier, higher quality finish).
After about 6-8 months the metal piece which the replaceable heads fit to started to become loose. Progressively over the past month or two it has now become unusable.
I am disappointed to see that Philips has been significantly downgrading the quality of their Sonicare toothbrushes.

Third Time's A Charm!
This is the third electric toothbrush I've owned. The last one was really nice. It had a wide range of features but I bought from a brand that doesn't seem to offer toothbrush head replacements! So, this time I chose a respected brand I'm familiar with and have confidence that I can go to any local retailer and replace the toothbrush heads.
I really appreciate the time and the pressure sensor. As someone likes to brush and has been an aggressive brusher at times, this toothbrush with these settings is amazing! I look forward to years of use and glad I was able to get this brush.

Sonicare 4100
My toothbrush failed within 3 or 4 months of purchase. Complained to Sonicare and without any questions asked, they promptly sent me a new one. Great service!
I have since learned that in the event of problems, I must change the much cheaper, compatible toothbrush head with the proper Sonicare smart one for a while. Problem solved!
I would have preferred my old, simpler Sonicare brush however. Manipulation of the settings on this one, to my mind, is very finicky and difficult. But once set, they have been staying put for half a year or more already now.

I gave up on it! Can't use it.
Gentle pressure made my teeth tingle/tickle so much I gave up after only 4 uses.

No charger included
To promote sustainability, philips expects you to provide your own charger for this tooth brush. THey do offer to send you an adapter all the way from China which I guess uses less plastic but pumps millions of tonnes of CO2 into the environment! Oh, and the adapters are on indefinite backorder!

Worked well for me!
Just had it for a couple of days now to replace an older Sonicare that has died. The new slim design is easier to hold and the brushing experience is very much like my old toothbrush. I'm not a fan of the USB charger. How many people have a USB charger in the bathroom? Philips is also not particularly forthcoming about the fact that one can use the old style direct plug in charger with the new toothbrush. The only way that I could receive "official" confirmation that this was OK was to contact their customer support.
