The 5 S's
The 1st S: Swaddle
Swaddling recreates the snug packaging inside the womb and is the cornerstone of calming. It decreases startling and increases sleep. And, wrapped babies respond faster to the other 4 S’s and stay soothed longer because their arms can’t wriggle around.
The 2nd S: Side or Stomach Position
The back is the only safe position for sleeping, but it’s the worst position for calming fussiness. This S can be activated by holding a baby on their side, on their stomach or over your shoulder. You’ll see your baby mellow in no time.
The 3rd S: Shush
Contrary to myth, babies don’t need total silence to sleep. In the womb, the sound of the blood flow is a shush louder than a vacuum cleaner! But, not all white noise is created equal. This bassinet CHANGD MY LIFE. No joke. I was not given an 'easy' newborn.. finally, broken and weary-eyed from NO sleep, I ordered this bassinet because I believe in Dr. Karp's teachings and his book "Happiest Baby on the Block" SAVED us. This bassinet is simply incredible and our little guy has been giving us 7-9 hours STRAIGHT stretches of sleep, WITH MORE sleeping after a quick feed! Im looking at 12 hours here. I feel amazing. Do what you have to do to get the money to buy this bassinet, but ITS INCREDIBLE.

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE IN CANADA—WARRANTY IS A NIGHTMARE
We bought a Snoo in July 2024, and four months later, it started making a horrible noise, and an unusual jerky motion that rubbed some hair off the back of our baby’s head. We contacted Happiest Baby for troubleshooting, and after some back and forth, they determined it needed to be replaced, but redirected us back to Well.ca to get the replacement. Initially, Well.ca wasn’t going to help us, and Happiest Baby won’t ship directly in Canada. It took several days to finally get Well.ca to send a replacement, at the manufacturer’s request, but unfortunately they shipped it via Purolator. They knew there was a backlog with this courier due to the postal strike, and shipped it anyhow. Fast forward 3+ weeks, and we haven’t received the replacement bassinet. Our baby has stopped sleeping because she needs the motion of the Snoo she has gotten used to, and had to go cold-turkey off of it. We are sleep deprived, exhausted, and still don’t have a working Snoo. At this point our baby will outgrow the bassinet before we get an actual working replacement, and we have lost a month of the life of the product, which is only recommended until a baby is 6 months old. The carrier keeps delaying delivery, and are not taking any customer service calls or accepting missing item tickets. The supervisor we were contacting at Well.ca has stopped responding to us, and is not responding to the manufacturer’s emails either, and the customer service agent we were able to get through to after several calls basically told us there’s nothing they can do—but warned against contacting our credit card over this as it will “cause problems.”

You can't put a price on parental sleep!
We purchased a SNOO for our second grandchild (out of desperation!) when she was 2 weeks old. Until then she would only "contact sleep" day or night. No amount of swaddling, rocking or other tricks could get her to stay asleep for more than 10 min when she was put down in the crib. Mom and dad were taking turns with overnight shifts, each trying to grab 2 or 3 h of sleep at a time. Everyone was nearing exhaustion! Collectively we were at our whits end when I stumbled across the SNOO description and reviews when I was searching for "swaddling" solutions on line. My daughter and son-in-law initially tried to rent one but there were none available from suppliers in the area. From reading many reviews on line, we understood that this device won't be the magic solution for all infants, but in our case by the second night she was sleeping continuously for 3 to 4 h at a time. By 6 weeks of age she was consistently sleeping 7 -8 h straight at night. Daytime SNOO sleeps have taken a bit longer to "mature" and stabilize but currently are usually lasting at least 60 min and sometimes extend to a couple of hours. They have now had the SNOO for 10 weeks and have had no issues with its performance. It comes with a subscription to the Happiest Baby app to operate the bassinet and track baby's activities. They did purchase an additional sheet and SNOO swaddle so there is always a clean set (no emergency laundry). It was a bit of a leap of faith to make this kind of financial investment when there is no guarantee of sleep success, but we are very happy we made the purchase.
