Lundberg California Brown Basmati Rice
907 g
This long-grain, aromatic rice offers the fragrance of Indian Basmati, but no elongation. It's an excellent choice for when a fluffy, drier texture and an exotic aroma is desired.  It is best used in stir fry, salads, stuffing, pilaf, and desserts.

Ingredients: California Brown Basmati rice.

Cooking Instructions:
1 cup Lundberg Brown Basmati rice
1¾ cups water or broth
1 tbsp. butter (optional)
salt to taste

Combine rice, water, and butter (optional) in a pot and bring to a boil. Cover with a tight-fitting lid, reduce heat to low-simmer, and cook for 40 minutes. Remove from heat (with lid on!) and steam for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork.

If rice is crunchy at the end of cooking time, it may be necessary to add 1-2 Tbsp. liquid and cook longer.

I always loved basmati rice but I only ate the white kind. This is the first time I tried brown basmati rice and it smells and tastes just like the white. I add curry powder to it and sometimes add some turmeric powder as well. The flavour is wonderful and the house smells so good while I cook it. My neighbours must smell it too. I made it according to directions and it came out perfect.

Found that I had to add a little bit more water then the recipe on the bag. When I followed the recipe the rice was still hard, so I added water and put it back on low and it was fine.
