Magnesium Bisglycinate utilizes Magnesium bound to the amino acid Glycine, which facilitates higher rates of intestinal absorption. Magnesium is a mineral that activates an estimated 300 enzymes, including those that regulate functions critical for energy production and metabolism, muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and bone mineralization. In addition, Magnesium is required for fatty acid synthesis, protein synthesis, and glucose metabolism. Magnesium status is also important for regulation of calcium balance through its effects on the parathyroid gland. This powder format allows for controlled dosing. Tastes awful, but it works
I have been supplementing with Magnesium for over a year now. I recently decided to switch to chelated Mg (this in the pm and Threonate in the am). I noticed a difference in the first couple of days. It has a much bigger impact on my sleep than the Calm brand did, and the generic benefits off Mg supplementation feel much more potent.
I was really hoping that the claims of bad taste weren't AS bad as I was reading, but alas it's not great. I usually mix 1tsp with a full glass of water before bed and chug, but my first night with this powder I had to drink it in portions. It's not gag-worthy per se, but there's something about it that makes my body instinctively want to stop swallowing. I have since learned that mixing w/ equal parts Vit C (ascorbic acid or acetic acid) will neutralize the taste. I have since been taking it mixed together with my inositol (~2G) and a hearty squeeze of lemon juice, and the taste is no longer an issue at all.
I am considering getting capsules for it but the citrus is working great for now.

No fillers (nice) but it doesn't work and it tastes terrible
I could put up with a lot in terms of taste if I felt like it worked, but compared to a powder from a different brand I used prior to this, it feels like it's not absorbing nearly as well at all, and it has a terrible fishy taste (unless you add a fair amount of lemon juice - again I'd be happy to do this if I felt like it worked, but it just doesn't - I can't sleep at night anymore, and my muscles all feel incredibly tense). Gets 2 stars for not having any fillers, but I've just gotta go back to the one with fillers because it works.

Terrible taste
Tastes like dead fish...should be a capsule... I have tried other brands and they don't taste like this and work just as well. Won't be buying again.
