when it works, it works.
Recently purchased and been using for a few days. Yeah, it burns on application for 5 seconds, or so, and yeah, drying the canker and letting the product dry can be tough, depending on where the sore is, but, when it works, it works. Numbs the pain well enough so I could eat with minimal discomfort, and mostly ignore it the rest of the day. My current sore is right in the corner of my mouth, where my lips join, so this one interferes with talking and smiling, and I've used this stuff on other cankers in different locations, so overall, yeah, it works well enough.

The Worst Orajel Product
If I could give it 0 I would. I bought this over a month ago and had similar experiences as the other review. 3 months later I decided to try it out again. Worse idea ever! It is impossible to keep the area dry long enough for the product to dry. The product stuck to my cheek rather then the canker sore, in return it has been irritating the canker sore worse than when without the product. The worst part, is the gel is now in multiple areas in my moth and I cant seem to remove it! I would strongly recommend not using this and for the suppliers to remove this product from the shelfs as it has cause more pain and extended my healing time. Stick with salt water.

Menthol caused chemical burns
I bought this product to numb a large canker sore on the inside of my lip. I applied it over the course of one day, and very rapidly developed a serious chemical burn on the area. I discontinued use immediately, but the burn has remained for days, with extreme pain and swelling. The FDA and Health Canada warn that pain relievers with menthol are known to cause this reaction, which makes its inclusion in this product truly baffling. DO NOT RISK IT. I have used the benzocaine only version in the past with no issues. I would give zero stars if I could. AVOID THIS PRODUCT!

Causes more pain than it relieves
I broke out in canker sores after a bad reaction to a new toothpaste and thought I would try this Orajel medicated gel for canker sores. I followed the instructions on the package, which are simple, but it caused an intense burning for several minutes after I applied it and my mouth was throbbing for an hour after. The product leaves a chalky paste in your mouth rather than a protective film. It has been 3 days and I didn’t find that this product relieved the pain at all or helped heal my canker sores faster.

Impossible to Use
I bought this a week ago, and it's been completely useless. Keeping any part of your mouth dry for 30-60 is extremely, extremely difficult (maybe impossible?). Your mouth salivates naturally... I'm not sure which desert mouthed doctors are recommending this, but if you're human, I recommend saving your money. Doesn't relieve pain and as far as I can tell has no real medical benefits. Rinse with salt water, that's your only hope.

Very painful when applying
I bought this today and put it on the sore on my tongue, it caused severe burning pain and it's impossible to dry while inside the mouth.

Instant pain relief. Protects sore from contact
I used to buy sore patches but those would be thick and awkward. This gel, when given the 30-60 seconds, creates a protective film that protects my sores from rubbing on the tooth that caused the bite in the first place. Such a relief! Hoping each application lasts for more than a couple hours.

Dissapointed
I really thought this would help me, I was looking for anything to give me pain relief. The gel works for maybe 20-30 mins at most. I really wish it lasted longer. It burns initially which I was okay dealing with if it provided relief. I will say that my canker sore got much worse after I used this gel 3-4 times. I'm not sure if the ingredients are irritating it more or what is going on.
