Triphala is one of the most important herbal preparations in Ayurvedic Medicine. In Sanskrit, Triphala means “three fruits” and true to its name, it is a blend of three fruits: Amalaki or Amla, Bibhitaki and Haritaki. Believed to restore balance to all three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, it is one of the most used tonics in Ayurveda for whole body cleansing and balancing. Triphala can be used for daily, gentle cleansing and detoxification, for promoting regularity, and for optimal digestive health.
Caution: Produced in a facility that processes tree nuts. May contain tree nuts.
Directions: Take 1 teaspoon once or twice daily. Easily add to smoothies, energy drinks, teas and tonics.

It's very good for you, but not in a smoothie.
There are a few things you need to know about triphala:
1) It's normally best consumed on its own with warm water on an empty stomach.
2) It tastes awful, unless you actually enjoy the taste of a sour barn.
3) It really is good for you and can be taken every day to benefit all your organs, including your digestive system.
I'm not sure if the person who wrote the recommendation on the back of the package to put it in a smoothie has ever actually tasted triphala. Just because it's made from fruit doesn't mean it's smoothie material.

works
The taste is absolutely horrendous, truly vile. I tried mixing it in water and in coffee, both were terrible. On the other hand, it works and it does detoxify and provide a gentle digestive cleanse. Pick your poison! :)

It works
It's one of the few things that legitimately gets the digestive tract moving when other things don't.
