The concept of a sunrise lamp is great; I much prefer it to a sound-only alarm. However, the user interface is a bit overcomplicated. The light also sometimes turns off after a short time. More importantly, when I had to unplug it once, it no longer worked after being plugged back in. This has happened twice: the first time, I thought the cord was faulty so I replaced it and the clock worked again. This time, I know the cord is not at fault (and neither is the plug outlet). Why did it die? It's too expensive for this to happen. I will buy a different brand now.

Never going back to my alarm clock, ever!
I bought this just over a week ago. I live in a back-split apartment and the bedroom is in the basement. Waking up in the dark every morning wasn't hard, it was almost impossible. I have been waking up with just the light, even before the sounds starts. This is the best thing since sliced bread!
It takes a couple days to figure out which light brightness works best. My suggestion is to start with the brightest setting and then work down.
The Bird sounds aren't annoying like other "Nature Sounds"
I would definitely recommend if you live in a basement apartment, or just have trouble snoozing in the morning.

Wasteful, do not buy this product. Died after only a few years use. Phillips you should be ashamed of this product, after reading other reviews many others had the same issue. Expensive investment for temporary product. Only apology that was offered was for 20% to spend more on a short lived product. Don’t waste your money! If I could give negative stars, I would.

Just what I wanted
Love this wake up light! I enjoy that I can program 2 different alarms making it easy to have a everyday weekday work alarm and weekend whatever alarm. Easy to turn each them on and off by the push of a button. I appreciate all of the available customizations available for wake up sound selection and volume of chosen sound as well as the level of lighting that I prefer. I love that I can set a lower glow level of light before bedtime so when I wake into the room an hour or so later to go to bed I am able to see my way around without having to turn on a bright daytime light. I do find it so much easier to start my day with this light and sounds versus the old jarring of a blasting alarm waking me from slumber.

Loved this alarm clock, until it stopped turning on. It started a few years ago where it would not turn on after a power outage, so I would follow the troubleshooting steps and unplug and replug after a while. Then after a few years of this, it just wouldn't turn on anymore. This product seems to be built to be eventually useless, it's a shame because I really liked the alarm and now it is completely useless.

Makes winter mornings easier!
I bought the light to help with waking up on dark winter mornings,and it really does! The product works flawlessly and was very easy to setup and use. I bought it for the light but the radio has good sound and so I’m using that as well. Happy I bought it and definitely recommend it if the lack of sunlight in winter makes it hard for you to get going in the morning.

Returning
Set light/sound alarm as per instructions, both symbols displayed. Set fall asleep for whatever time and before time is over the clock goes from normal gradual dim to dim to off in 1 sec, and the light alarm symbol goes off. And I’m late for work, again.
The sound alarm can be tuned on/off, but sunrise alarm is hit/miss.
Absolutely no trouble shooting available about this. I assume this clock is defective and will be returning it.

Lost power and function
Short life span. Power all of a sudden started flashing and wouldn’t turn off. Buttons stopped working. Less than 5 years old
