Aside from promoting lesser known foods, Abokichi is dedicated to sharing the creativity which can emerge when different cultures interact. Abokichi means "Fortunate Avocado," coming from abokado, a South American fruit which has found a place in cuisines all over the world, and kichi which means fortunate in Japanese, to express the blessing of the diversity of different cultures in the world.

Abokichi started selling onigiri (Japanese rice balls) in farmer's market in 2013 and wanted to use a delicious type of chilli oil for their onigiri. They tried to source the product from Japan, but realized the products from Japan usually contained a lot of chemical preservatives, MSGand stabilizers. So they decided to make their very own, original, all natural condiments and started to use it in their onigiri. That was such a big hit that they started to put it into jars, making it available for you to enjoy.
