Just like when breastfeeding, baby latches onto the teat of Calma by creating
a vacuum. Once the vacuum has been established, the baby uses his or her
tongue to increase or decrease the level of the vacuum. When the vacuum is
at baseline, milk will not flow through Calma. However, when a baby increases
the level of the vacuum, Calma allows the milk to pass through the teat into
the baby’s mouth.
- Milk Flow Hole: Milk flow membrane system ensures milk stays in the bottle until the baby chooses to feed by increasing the level of vacuum
- Soft Bumps: The soft bumps stabilize the outer layer and prevent the silicone from collapsing
- Air Venting System: Ensures bottle air pressure remains neutral at all times so milk release is dependent only on level of vacuum created by baby

We had lots of trouble with BFing from the beginning so my son started on this nipple at 10days old and still using it now that hes 5montha old. Love it.
From other comments with less stars, i see that it's being blamed on inconsistent flow - that's something that can be controlled depending on how you assemble the nipple! Its a feature of this specific nipple, although maybe people havent noticed. I love that we can control the flow, as speed and strenght of suction has definitely changed since baby was 10days old. I definitely recommend this nipple to everyone, we still use these even now that ive stopped pumping and we're on to formula.

We love these nipples, so bought a second one. Lately our son has been knawing on it and making quite a mess during feedings, as if he's having a hard time getting the milk. Since this is a new behaviour, we're hoping it's a phase and not due to the nipple itself. Usually we're very happy with Medela products (though pricey).

I love Medela products because you are getting great quality. This new nipple is a bit hit and miss. I started my baby on the bottle after 4 months and she did not like it at all at the beginning. It took a couple of weeks to get her used to it. Once she was comfortable with it she took to it and we go from breast to bottle with no problem.

I love the Medela feeding products, but I did not have success with this nipple. My baby had a lot of difficulty with it, was gagging on the very large/wide nipple, and ultimately refused to nurse on it. The normal Medela nipple works very well and he has taken to that easily. I should note that my baby is only 2 weeks old - maybe a larger/older baby would be able to handle the Calma nipple.
