Disappointed in new formula
I’ve been using the original formula for about two years and absolutely loved it. However, when I recently bought a new container, I noticed a drastic change in quality. I initially thought I had just gotten a bad batch, but when I bought another one to be sure, it turned out to be just as bad.
The cream’s texture, performance, everything was off. It was so noticeably different that I had to Google whether the formula had changed. That’s when I discovered that I wasn’t alone, others had the same experience. Whatever changes were made to the formula have completely ruined what used to be a great product. Really disappointed

This is NOT the original formula, quality is POOR!
This is not the original formula - we are being scammed. This formula has corn starch, the original has talc. This corn starch formula gets grainy. My family has looked to the actual original formula, from Germany, all my life, all my mother’s life, so a century, but my granddaughter cries with pain from something in the formula that’s sold in North America as original. It also does not work as well on my own cracked or irritated skin as the old, real, original formula. If you are buying Penaten crème, check the ingredients and get the real one, not this knockoff!

I thought the batch was bad!!
I’ve had this in my house my entire life and especially since having my kiddo (he’s 6 now). I recently bought a new tin and thought it was a bad batch as it was a completely different consistency and texture. So I got another large tin and it is the same! Grainy and gooey!! This stuff is NOT cheap and it’s NOT what it once was! I came online tonight to see if I could figure out what’s going on and it appears I’m not the only disappointed customer! It looks like they changed their formula yet the packaging is how it always was even since I was a child! Come on, Penaten!! Are you saving yourself loads of money while your customers are still paying top dollar? Don’t fix it if it isn’t broken! I’m so utterly disappointed.

Now horrible
We've used this cream for several generations. My mom used it on my siblings and myself as babies, and ive been using it for 50 plus years. I used it on my 2 kids as babies, and for anything else an adult might use it for. I just recently restocked, it's awful. I thought my first small container was a fluke, it was the only size I could find anywhere. I just found a large container, unfortunately same crappy goo. It's not as thick, doesn't stay where you need it, squishes to spots you don't want it, it's pasty,and has these stupid grains in it. Don't know why you changed it, it was a great product, and I'm very unsatisfied with the cream now. I can only guess it has to do with cost, because why change what works , and has been working for years.

Used to be amazing, now it’s terrible!
I bought this a few days ago for my daughter’s four week old baby who had developed a diaper rash. I have used this product for years, since the 80s and it has been the most amazing healing cream and I also used for many other skin problems, other than diaper rash. They have now changed the ingredients or something, and it’s terrible. It’s very gritty and the consistency has totally changed. My daughter used it the other day because it’s always been a great product, even though we noticed there was a huge change in the consistency. It actually made the diaper rash worse. Awful product, and I will never buy it again. It really is too bad! For years, I’ve raved about this cream, and even called it my miracle cream. What a shame! And what a waste of money!

alternate uses
I use this product around my lips when they become extremely red/chapped in the winter time. I use a cotton swab to apply all around the lip line before I go to bed and wipe off whatever remains in the morning. Typically, I see results when leaving it on for less than 8 hours but it is most convenient to apply at night. This product is very difficult to wash off skin, even with soap, so I would recommend applying using a barrier of some sort (cotton pad, latex glove, etc.).
I consistently have a difficult time opening the lid of this product and I am an able-bodied adult with great fine motor skills. It would not be easy for a child to open.

Lifesaver !
This cream is amazing !!! i'm a little lady who used work construction , none of the gear fit so I went without and got a ton of sawdust buried in my hands and face , largely from standing in front of a table saw for a while at 5 feet , no mask , no gloves , this cream is pulling out the wood and healing the skin perfectly, I've gone through a ton of tins , I do all upper body masks to soften the skin for extractions , it's a cooling , comforting cream , with a slight numbing effect ,. which is also appreciated since the splinters are incredibly itchy and they seem to hurt more coming out than they did going in ! ,.... so I need to tell you how appreciative I am !.. New formula is garbage
This USED to be the best thing since sliced bread. New formula is making this a garbage cream. It is thin, spreads thin and doesn’t stay on. This used to be the best diaper rash cream ever and new formula has completely ruined it. My babies rash continues because the cream doesn’t stay on and builds a protective barrier like old formula used to. Why would you change a perfect product to make it now garbage like others?
