Traditionally, psyllium is renowned as a laxative. It absorbs water and swells as it moves through the digestive tract. Psyllium has been used for centuries for the treatment of constipation, ulcers, colitis and as an aid in bowel management for patients with hemorrhoids. It has also been found that Psyllium can help decrease the bad cholesterol in the blood, while raising the “good kind” of cholesterol required by our bodies.

Gritty texture, unpleasant taste
I mixed the powder into water following the directions on the package. It had a gritty sandy texture and a terrible taste. It is going straight into the compost bin. I wouldn't buy again and I don't recommend.

Placing my second order now
I put some of this in my morning smoothie and I find it's virtually undetectable. I have found that it makes a really positive difference in my bowel function. For the past few years I've been regularly using stool softeners and laxative teas but wanted to find a healthier solution. I tried this with no expectations, but now I'm convinced that it was fibre I was lacking in my diet.
