Recommended dose: Adults: Drink 1 cup (2 tea bags) twice a day.
Directions of Use: Pour 240 ml of freshly boiling water over 2 teabags in a cup and steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes. Gently squeeze the teabags to release any remaining extractive.
Duration of use: For prolonged use, consult a health care practitioner.
Medicinal ingredients: Each tea bag (1.5g) contains: organic burdock root (Arctium lappa) 450 mg, organic stinging nettle leaf (Urtica dioica) 450 mg, organic cleavers herb (Galium aparine) 225 mg, organic roasted dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale) 225 mg.
Non-medicinal ingredients: Organic lemon myrtle leaf (Backhousia citriodora).
Cautions: Consult a health care practitioner before taking if you have diabetes. There is limited evidence from preclinical studies that burdock may have hypoglycemic activity. Use by adults and adolescents over 12 years of age with renal failure, heart failure, or both, should be avoided because of possible complications due to hyperkalemia.
Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family, such as burdock or dandelion, or if you are allergic to stinging nettle. Do not use if you have liver or gall bladder disorders, bowel obstruction, or an active peptic ulcer. Discontinue use if you develop symptoms of liver trouble. Do not use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age.
Known adverse reactions: Hypersensitivity/allergy is known to occur, in which case, discontinue use. In sensitive individuals, mild gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) or allergic reactions (itching, exanthema, hives) may occur from use of stinging nettle. The frequency is not known. Discomfort due to gastric hyperacidity may occur after taking herbs that contain bitter substances like dandelion.
